Please don't hype for games...
They'll just fall short of your expectations and you'll complain for months.

I think the problem is the fact that Reach was far to easy for bad players to be as good as the players who would normally beat them. For one, bloom was a nice idea, but it's infuriating to be in a DMR battle only to be beat by the guy with worse aim because one bullet decided to be the magic one.
For another thing, armor abilities. I don't think I need to explain how AL provided a haven for dead men to live, or how camo brought about increased camping.
Basically the game was made to make as equal of a playing field as possible, squashing any incentive to get better at the game and providing less skilled players with the resources to be as good as better players. I can guarantee with absolute certainty that if I was thrown into a Halo 3 lone wolves game right now that I wouldn't do half as well there as I would on Reach. That is a problem.
What 343 needs to do is stop making this game so easy. Take away the variables that make it so effortless. Even if I'm considered bad in Halo 3 and good in Reach, I'd rather have an accurate, brutal truth estimate based on my skill than the false ego-boosting one Reach has.
The way I see bungie's thought process if they intended to make reach was this:
"Look, CoD is completely destroying halo 3!"
"Well, what do they have that increases appeal?"
"Gimmicks, crutches, and easy gameplay."
"Great, so let's do the exact same thing in halo!"
OT: I really don't hate on reach that much. Maybe because I don't blow nuisances out of proportion, or maybe because I usually forge or do customs. If it was broken, then halo cannot be saved. Why? Because, personally, 343i hasn't gained my trust yet.
