So basically you're just guessing the same way I was guessing about their ego's?

Yes, it's called looking at it logically rather than being biased.

A smart business move from Bungie would have been to let their fans know what was going on so they wouldn't make the assumptions that I and many others have made about them.
You've never heard of a Non-Disclosure Agreement?

Also, it's great that 343 are picking up where Bungie left off but what I am asking was whether it was too late or not as I know many people have stopped playing Halo already.

It may be too late, yes, but in all seriousness... Halo as a whole just may not be as big as it used to be.

I don't care what they did or did not sign, at the end of the day most of the fans thought they were getting screwed by Bungie instead of supported. If that was part of their contract, to stay silent, then it was a pretty bad business decision by Bungie/Microsoft in my opinion.

At the end of the day fans can also be quit blind to anything other than their own self serving needs and instead of thinking rationally they immediately think "we got screwed, Bungie sold out."

Non-Disclosure Agreements are part of every contract in the gaming industry by the way.

And it's not a bad decision on Microsoft's in the least.

Why?

You bought Reach. You currently hate it and want the "real" Halo back.

So you're going to buy Halo Anniversary and Halo 4.

Microsoft just made more money off you.

Win/Win.

No I didn't buy Reach. I work for a video game retailer so I got it for free. However, I still would have at least bought it if I didn't. I will also get Halo Anniversary for free as well. If I didn't I probably wouldn't buy it. Where they did lose was with the DLC. I bought every single map pack in Halo 3 because the game was exciting. I have not bought one with Reach. Neither did any of my 20 or so mates that used to play Halo. Good business?... hmmmmmm.

I think the problem was that Bungie let their ego get in the way and could've made significant changes months ago when people were still interested.

I think the problem is that you are ignorant to the possibility that Bungie was contractually not allowed to touch Reach's hard code (i.e. a Title Update) after release.

And what about all the fixes they could have done without a title update? Bungie isn't innocent, they may or may not have been allowed to make a title update but they still did nothing to fix any of the problems of this game.

Also, are you ever not on these forums? No disrespect, but I literally see you on here EVERY time I am on, no matter what time it is etc.

Like what fixes?

I only come on these forums Thur-Sunday because I'm at work.

No, not with this community. Everyone needs to appreciate Reach, or we end up having another Halo 3.

Ok, so not you or 20 other people bought the map packs, and?

For every 20 that didn't, 300 could have. Or 1,000, or 2. So... you don't have much of a point.

And I noticed you skipped talking about Halo 4.

Living dead betrayal mess, mute ban, sword block etc.

And how many of those, do you know 100%, are fixed without touching hard code?

Turning friendly fire off in a playlist does not require a title update.

Nope, it sure doesn't. Thank you for listing one change out of the etc list.

Now comes the question: How important, really, is turning Friendly Fire off in Living Dead? Being betrayed is surely annoying, but it's not game breaking.

I'd be looking at any opportunity to improve my game. I think any great company would. Also, sword block doesn't require a title update. That's two.
How do you know sword block does not require a title update? I'm pretty sure that requires some additional coding.

Yes, any great company would. But haven't I already addressed that? Contractual restrictions could have kept them from it or they didn't see it as a big enough problem.

Sword Block doesn't require touching hard code? Are you 100% sure? Because you're not limiting a mechanic to a specific playlist, like when they took Drop Shield out of playlists, you're actually removing a mechanic of the game.

RC Clone is the anti-thesis of a lurker.

Nope it's dead. Let's move on to the next multiplayer driven shooter with a story based around space marines killing hostile invading aliens.

From what I hear there was a large amount of people who didn't buy the Reach map pack. Also, I am waiting to hear more about the Halo 4 features before I purchase it this time. If it is cluttered with bull$hit gimmicks like Reach I will pass on buying it. In the past I would have just run out and bought a Halo title without a second thought.

Sword Block is not something you can change in a gametype. It's only in the TU gametypes

Correct.

Replacing the Scorpion with a Wraith on Hemorrhage does not remove the Scorpion from the game.

Removing Sword Block, completely, does.

Why wouldn't they have designed it to be removed without touching "hard code?" The more options the better. They've had years of developing experience, they should know this by now. Anyways, sword block should be a player trait, if it is a title update would not be required, if it isn't Bungie was just dumb for not making this the case. Take your pick.

Also, they had a beta feedback forum that they mostly ignored, you seem to have forgotten this.

How exactly would you make Sword Block a "player trait?" Player traits are passive.

Why wouldn't they have designed it to be removed without touching hard code? It may not have mattered, again if they were contractually bound to only some things.

As far as beta feedback, it could have been ignored, they could have found no other way to fix it, they could have wanted it to be as it was, or they could have been overruled by Microsoft.

You keep trying to point Bungie as a company that literally turned their back on everyone... which makes no financial sense for them. Let's piss off our player base on purpose so they'll be more inclined to buy our next non-Halo title!

That makes sense.

So what do you presume they do?

Well for one I would listen to peoples feedback from Reach. I would also bring in some "better" play testers, maybe even some Halo pro's and make sure anything added wouldn't break the competitive aspect of the game. Last of all, I would keep the game simple. Seems like every time they overcomplicate things the game breaks down.

I know there is a TU coming but is it too late? Will the veteran players come back with these new settings?

I think as a start 343 should've made all the DLC maps free with Anniversary.

What are your thoughts?

Reach is already dead. The covenant glassed it. Remember?

But Reach later got revived when stuff started growing back again.

So Reach is already saved, so it doesn't need saving. You can't save that which already does not need saving.
