This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I'm not even going to answer this.

It's like asking, who's better? A caveman with a stick, or an ancient Spartan?

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Joined earlier this month, uses a t-bagging avatar, asks a facepalm worthy question.

Looks like we've got a troll gents.

also you forgot that even without armor the Spartans bod has been modified, (it's been a while, trying to remember what it is called) master chief has tooken on a couple of odst's and won with no armor...

Personally, I think he means combat skill.

Well saying that a baby spartan pwnd 4 high odsts....i would say odst....no.

If Spartan bodies were modified, don't you think that the ODST are trained better for combat? Seeing how they aren't altered genetically to be super soldiers, such as the Spartans.

I'd say Spartans anyway.

Spar-tan
a. Rigorously self-disciplined or self-restrained.
b. Simple, frugal, or austere: a Spartan diet; a spartan lifestyle.
c. Marked by brevity of speech; laconic.
d. Courageous in the face of pain, danger, or adversity.

The definition just sounds to-the-extreme itself.

A "baby" spartan?

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Well, Spartans are obviously better because they'd been trained since 6 years old and have augmentations...

That being said, ODSTs are the unsung heroes. They pull a lot of weight in the war and they don't have the fancy armor or augmentations.

that definition comes from the warriors of Sparta in ancient Greece, not Halo

I'm frickin working for Bungie someday!

ODSTs dont have more skill. spartans are super human. the master cheif actually wieghs about 1,000 lbs in full armor, and is still capable of jumping as high as a man is tall (a little bit of that might be powered by the armor, but its mostly the person). The master cheif has the strength to throw a truck, if necessary. plus, a whole bunch of ODSTs die in halo 2 and 3 during the course of the campaign, only a few ODSTs were almost as capable as spartan (primarily the ones in halo 3: ODST). ODSTs are not as cool as spartans, but they are still pretty cool.

I am...whimsical today.

ODST arguably have more guts. They choose to take on the hard missions, without many of the benefits of Spartans.
A Spartan wouldn't really understand that they had a choice. If war is all you know, how can you choose not to fight.

I am the last of the primes.

Arguable, but maybe I'm not putting my point across well enough.

Spartans tend to be put on missions that are too tough for regular marines to handle without heavy losses.
This does not mean that ODSTs have easy missions. ODSTs die. They get shot in hostile territory, they get bombed, glassed, even burn up in a bad drop. The ODSTs get given some of the toughest missions available for non-Spartans, and they are all volunteers.

Spartans might not know fear because they have been conditioned that way. ODSTs do know fear, and carry on regardless.
This is the point I am trying to make :)
