At the beginning of the level, if you throw a grenade at the right time, you can stay in the Pelican. It will then take off and take you to the edge of the level above the canyon you would normally travel through if you exited the Pelican. While you're up there, if you walk around, eventually you will come across a lone Marine with no weapon who is standing in the middle of no where. What is he doing up there? Did Bungie intend on scripting another part of the level up there and later decide not to and just forget to delete that Marine? Or did they know about the Pelican trick and put the Marine up there to give you some company, since no one else is around? I've been wondering about this for a long time, and finally decided I'd ask.

Old news. Before the encounter with the Flood, MC finds the broken body of a Marine called Mendoza (who is also the Marine you "meet"). The computer kills him off so he is in place for the cutscene to happen. Sounds mad, but I think that's it.

How you throw the grenade is you just keep on hitting L and he'll throw it. Or if you miss you can hop on top of the pelican somehow. If you find the part when you go down to find the flood you will...wait on if you do the level normally you see a explosion and a bunch of AR fire and covenant running out. Well if you do the pelican glitch look for where you go in and drop down. Nothing will be there for a minute and then floating AR's appear out of no where and fire off.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

I didn't know there was a guy up there. Cool.

On the cut-scene at the beginning of the level. When you see the Pelican landing start pressing L. You dont move. You might have to throw all your grenades. One of your plasma grenades might fly into the Pelican before exploding and it would leave you with one block of health

Carrots.

I think the Marine was actualy suposed to be in the game somewhere, but the game's had a bug and he got loaded behind the invisible barrier.

  • 05.22.2006 1:04 PM PDT

I found him. He was just sitting there though. I heard there is and infected flood out here somepalce and almost mowed him down.

What he said.

I believe the reason was recorded a while back on HIH.

He's not talking about that one, read the post body before you post.
By the way, there is a similarity between the two... I shot them both in the face.

Yeah i was walking around and found a dead flood across the entrance. Follow the edge to a little pit or something and youll find it.

Yeah, that sounds right. It's that or something about the yellow dots you see when you run across that big tree to the bunker area.

Those yellow dots are actually Flood-infected Elites (you can actually kill them if your aim is good enough and if you can spot them, and I think on co-op you can walk up to them as you use your friend to trigger their apperance).

In all honesty, I think this level was incomplete; Flood come up as yellow dots, but you think they're Marines because of the Assault Rifle fire.

After you get off the Pelican, go in the direction that it is facing. You'll come up behind the entrance to were the AR fire shoots out. Go to the left of it, and then charge inside. The Grunts will appear out of thin air, and then so do two or three floating ARs. Nobody is holding them, there just suspended in mid-air. It looks pretty goofy.

Is the crosshair green, red or white when you aim at the AR's?

You know where the Pelicans windsheild is facing? Go that way, it takes awhile, but you'll find him.
