Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!
The Halo Community has officially turned 10 years old. Ten! That's crazy to think about. I'm sure most of you played Halo 1 at or shortly after launch. To put it in to better perspective... think of what you were then.
I know, right?
I was a 12 year old 7th grader who had owned a Playstation 2 for a year, and was pretty sure he was about to throw his hat in the Sony ring. Then Xbox came at Christmas, and as I was looking for which game to play first (I tended to lean toward sports games back in the day) my brother told me I should try this game Halo that he recommended my parents buy. I didn't know anything about it at the time (lol no google lol) but once my brother said "This game was made by the same guys that made Marathon" ... well that was enough, I was in. Even though I had played the occasional FPS before, it hasn't been the same since.
And here I am, ten years later. Without Halo I probably would have ditched the Xbox for the Playstation, never would have found my way to this website, and never would have discovered Xbox Live, as this website was where I heard about it first all those years ago. I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I unwrapped that christmas present... and I don't know where the time has gone since. If I could go back in time and talk to my former self about what was to come... I don't know where I'd even start.
So yes, Halo Anniversary launches today. I'll pick it up at some point during the week and I'll enjoy the same campaign I've beaten hundreds of times before, and will beat hundreds of times more. But it won't be about the graphics, it won't be about the maps, and it won't be about the terminals. It'll be a celebration of a decade of memories. It's fun to look back to a time when my mind had to handle nothing but a ring world, and my hands had to handle nothing but an oversized controller.
And while some within the community may have argued over many things over the last ten years, from the BR to armor lock and everything in between... you're still here.
So thanks for the last 10 years Bungie. Here's to 10 more.
