So this is it: the 10th "birthday" of the Halo franchise and I guess that's a reason for celebrations.
Now we could have a regular "hurray and thanks Bungie!" thread but that's kind of lame. So instead let's do something more fun.
I'm curious to see how my fellow "Universians" have experienced 10 years of (in my humble opinion) the most awesome FPS series ever.
So this is the deal:
- Show off your complete Halo collection
- Name your best Halo's in 7 categories (see later on in my post)
- Share your first Halo experience

Let me get started.
1:my collection

Yes...I own 2 copies of Halo 2, and the multiplayer mappack which could also be downloaded...I'm a fan of H2 ;) So I basically own the Limited Edition of every Halo game, except for ODST's, and no Legendary of Reach (because I think it didn't add enough value for the additional price on top of the Limited Edition). Got all the books, excluding Glasslands, but then again I've got this book most of you probably never even heard of: Halo and Philosophy. Yes, sounds facepalmingly funny but it's actually could a good read to my suprise. Also have the Special Edition of Legends and a crapload of limited edition magazines with awesome Halo covers (like 2 Dutch Power Unlimited magazines with awesome relief and shiny printings) but only included OXM's 10 years of Halo special.
No figurines or comics for me. I'm not really into that stuff. I'm curious to see what you guys have though!
Oh and Halo Anniversary will be added to this collection in a few hours.

2:Favorite Halo
So here's the deal: 7 categories, just name the one you think is best in each category so that in the end we get an idea of what your ideal Halo game looks like. This is an idea I've got from that OXM magazine, funny to see what people come up with.

Campaign: Halo 2
Co-Op: Halo Reach
Multiplayer: Halo 2
Weapons: Halo CE
Editor: Halo Reach
Music: Halo ODST/Halo 2 blended together.
Visuals: Halo Reach

Overall no suprise as I think H2 is the best of the bunch. I really liked its campaign because of its deeper and more engaging story, and it's multiplayer: don't even get me started. Let's just keep it at those maps and the fun it offered. I have to hand weapons to CE, even though it's the most limited its also the most balanced and has the most iconic weapons of the series: the AR and THE Pistol. My ideal music would be a mix of H2's epicness and guitars mixed with ODST's feeling of grief and loss. Co-Op is just awesome in Reach, esspecially with the way you can edit your Spartans = awesome. And Forge, well...it is better in Reach than in H3, just no denying. Same goes for visuals: obviously best in Reach and I also really like its visual style.

3: First experience with Halo
2001: some demopod at the mall, playing Silent Carthographer. Which I've played maybe 20-30 times in malls alone before getting the game myself. Just the most awesome demo ever if you ask me. Still my favorite level in CE!

So to close this wall of text: Happy Birthday Halo! Thanks for 10 great years of gaming Halo, Bungie, Microsoft and 343i! Here's to another 10 years!

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

*tips hat to Halo* (except for a certain Halo game. >.>)

Not my fault, he shot himself. (Micheal J. Caboose)

Campaign: Halo 2
Co-Op: Halo 2
Multiplayer: Halo 3[i never played halo 2 online :( ]
Weapons: Halo 3
Editor: Reach(obviously)
Music: ODST/Halo 2(your definetly right on that note!)
Visuals: Reach(only because it was the last to come out!)
Overall I'd say Halo 2 was my favorite and Halo 3 closely behind it. The Halo series is, and forever will be, my favorite series of all time.
Sincerely

PS: Thats an amazing collection! Keep up the collecting :)
