Who said you had to play as Master Chief? Bungie can do whatever they want, why would they make Halo 3, because you said so? No, they would not, they would make a game that made the Halo universe better, like make the story more interesting, so that when Halo 3 does come out, if it ever does, people will be like, "OMG I REMEMBER THAT FROM (INSERT GAME NAME HERE)!!!! Im so happy bungie keeps a great story going."

First of all, how would making a prequel to halo:CE be considered "making the halo universe better" the story of pre-halo:CE has already been told in the first book Halo:Fall of Reach, read it it explains everything before the first game. plus, if they made a game that wasnt post halo2, that means the cliffhanger would drag on for another 3 years! in total thats about a 5-6 year cliffhanger from one game to the next, it would be an outrage. plus, the books coming out are obviously not gonna tell the ending of the halo universe before the game does, so in my estimation, halo 3 cannot be a prequel, will not be a prequel, and again cannot be a prequel. i will agree that the story is great and thats what makes it the greatest "all-around game" of all time, you may argue that a lot of games had better gameplay but none has equally matched the halo universe storyline and im sure the best is yet to come, especially with more games, novels, and let us not forget a movie forthcoming. And lastly, Halo is NOTHING without the master chief, so dont say "who said you had to play as master chief" cuz anyone in their right mind would agree, HES THE BLAMING MAIN CHARACTER!

I was just wondering about a statement frankie made in the most recent weekely update

" I will be here at Bungie on Wednesday, checking out the E3 news on the Interweb, like everybody else."

Why did he mention Wednesday in particular? The Microsoft press conference is on tuesday, and yes i know game specific showing are on the other days too, but why single out wednesday randomly? just wondering....and waiting.....FOR E3 DAMMIT HURRY UP YOU DAMN FATHER OF TIME!

Who said it has to be in the time of the covenment? Dude this game can can be in the Halo Universe, but not in the time that we are use to now. This game could have you infiltrating government headquarters to get info, when you suddenly find out that the government is building a "Halo" for new worlds, because the Universe is running out of plannets and needs more homelands, only for you to find out that this will also be a weapon against enemies. Sadly the project was never launched because you, the Forerunner stopped it. Now see this idea is just an idea on how a prequel could work, the game will not be this, but yes a prequel would own.

Angst:

1. existentialist dread: in existentialist philosophy, a feeling of dread arising from an awareness of free choice.

Angry:

1. feeling very annoyed: feeling extremely annoyed, often about an insult or a wrong.

Theres a big difference in the two words. Frankie specifically Used "Angsty" for a reason. not "Angry".

From what i read in the Update and actually reading the choice words that Frankie used, and if you look them up and read their definitions, you will start to understand Frankie alot better.

"Free Choice expressions" are used commonly in the world... and unfortunately, we are all entitled to use "Angst" on a daily basis. Its obvious the mister chief is "angst", not "angry". if you guys think Frank or "mister chief" is angry, i think you are all mistaken. i think hes showing "angst" due to the fact that if he did let people discuss this topic, all he would get are the "angry" "free choice awareness" of his fans (a feeling of dread arising from an awareness of free choice.)
.... i know we cant post on this weeks update and i know that that is due to "angst". for this Bungie, i do appoligize for myself and the rest of the fans that can actually appreciate what you do everyweek for free.

I hope everyone is extremely happy with this weeks "meaningless" update. Its so meaningless, thats its not worthy of a discussion. How would you guys feel if they did this to their fans every week?

BTW- I Can't wait till E3. ( i Still have not recievd My Bottle opener...i mean key chain, and my 2(TWO) Frosty Beer mugs(1 for each Hand). So i Can celebrate the unvailing of the New Halo Installment. Peace!

Wow, your right. When I read the word, I saw angry, not Angst. I guess I chose to see that word in my mind. I stand corrected. Thx for pointing it out! I think we all have to look at what Frankie says a little more carefully, and not look for such negative things; even if part of our mind is not aware of it.
You seem like a cool kid. Good to see good folks out there. Also, I love the Updates, always have, even the short ones. I just had issues on other areas... But the weekly updates I always enjoyed. Frankie actually is a very good writer. It’s very informing, even if it is totally irreverent to Bungie or Halo.

it makes perfect sense...... if you're a real Bungie fan and have kept track of what bungies intentions (or desires) are, then you would know that they've always wanted to tell the story of what Happened Before the Original Halo:Combat evolved.(not just in the novel, but in gameplay) Its obvious it entailed great battles and Huge environments and they have stated in the past, they now have the power of the 360 to make all this happened.now i dont mean that they mean they will make all this happen for The Ending of Halo(halo 3), but it makes sense that they would want to do this. Not just for themselves, but to all the Fans who have been waiting years for this story to hit gameplay. I do Now believe that Halo will NOT end with their next game, i think we'll get a prelude to Halo: Combat Evolved Leading up to the Escape of the Pillar of Autumn. Remember, MC was put on ICE after the Battle of Reach... so Im guessing he'll certainly Have a Huge part in the Prelude to Halo: Combat Evolved....and for those who think the story or Battle was too short, all i have to say is "Forerunner"..... I'm Sure they will have alot in the Game story showing and Playing the original race (Humans/Spartans) who created the rings and the Hardships they had with other species in the process. Once again and im one of the first people to bring this up.....I predict (4) Halo Games Total.

Halo:Combat Evolved
Halo2:(sometimes we have to weigh out our ambitions and abilities, unfortunately abilitys(for the intelligent people) always tip the scale. Maybe thats why Halo 2 fell short of expectations from some fans and Bungie as well)
Halo:"Forerunner"(The abilities are there! Now maybe Bungie can Use their ambitions to full extent)
Halo 3 (Hopefully, it can only get better)

Those are my guesses and thats all they are.....if im wrong, them im just ignorant...but hats ok as well.

why not have it
Halo
Halo CE
Halo 2
Halo Forrunner
Halo 2 Vista
Halo *Spartan Program-Reach*
Halo *Conclution of halo 2*

?
Its seven games, and it ties in everything. And thats like 10 years from now for the last Halo. Makes sence. See how long a game can be dragged out. Although, I could be so wrong.

I think their games are right on schedule, they have a 7 year plan which brings us to 2007 for the supposedly Halo Movie to Launch. Theres Also 7 Rings... we've Destroyed 2 of them so far, Frankie also mentioned that "you Save" Cairo Station. as i recall at the end of Halo 2, Cairo station was still under heavy attack, heavier than when you jumped into slipspace to the second ring(in the beginning of the game). now i would have to say at that point, "Cairo staion" has not yet been saved.(something to look forward to) We've activated the homing signal to contact the other 5 Rings, the only thing that seems reasonable at this moment is to be able to destroy all the Remaining rings from the "Arc" which is the biggest ring of all. so thats why i see 1 game telling us how the rings were built and how the Humans and Spartans had to Strugle in the fight against the covenent for reasons that they were unaware of at that time. And then i see Halo 3 showing us Epic Battles on Earth and how the Unition of the Humans/Spartans will Destray all remaqining Rings to eliminate the threat of galactic destruction.

we never destroyed installation 05. It is still up and running, with the humans and coive's have joined forces, while the brutes, jackles, buggers, and Truth have formed a new covanant. Cortana never blew up the ring, even thought it almost activated. Sounds like she has been hacked. After all, she knows all about the rings like the monitor to... Unless she knows a truth even the monitors dont know. This could be very interesting...

First of all i am a real bungie fan, and i dont see why i wouldnt be considered one just because i dont agree with your ludacris statements. first, why do you say halo3 will be the end of the story? the game could continue on 2 or 3 more titles for all we know. and secondly, have you even read the books? why the hell would bungie make a game where you play as the forerunners while you have the current halo series going, that would ruin so many secrets there would be no point to a continuation of the series. the only cool thing would be maybe using the moljinir25 armor that the oracle speaks of in the books, but then again that might be too easy. anyways, a prelude to halo:CE may be a future project, but you must remember that not all halo fans are as hardcore and know the story as well as you and i or others do, Bungie would lose a MASSIVE fanbase of casual gamers who play halo for fun and not for the storyline, and believe i play with a lot of people who have absolutely no clue who the forerunners are. The backstory to the games and the novels is discovering the secrets from the past and why the halos were built, who were the forerunners, etc. thats part of the intrigue of the the whole halo universe is discovering new elements to the story, thats what keeps fans like me wanting to play the next game and read the novels, to maybe find hidden story elements which someone else may not have notice and develop a theory which can then be furthur discussed in forums just like this one. why would bungie go and ruin all that then come back later after the whole story has been revealed (where the ark is, how to activate it, location of other halos, future moljinir armors, and basically how it all started). I feel that it would be completely insane and frankly retarded to make anyhting but a game which starts directly after halo 2 ends. And lastly, you werent one of the first people to come up with the idea because ive read that all over halo forums besides this one long before i read your post.

ps. im sure i speak for everyone when i say that we know how to read the number four you dont have to put the number in parenthesis right next to as if we are dumb or something.

one(1)two(2)three(3)four(4)five(5).....

in response to c0mfor7a31y_Num3,

only one ring has been destroyed, the other was just activated although it was halted before it could fire. and the "ark" isnt "the biggest halo of them all" if you actually listened at the end of halo2 you would hear the oracle say that the "ark" is a location of REMOTE detonation which means it cant be on a halo, my theory is that the ark is on Earth and thats why the covenant landed on the planet with a few number of support and no ships which would glass the planet like all the others, the dont want it to be destroyed cuz they know there is something there worthwhile. the ark is also a place of safety where detonation of the halos wont result in death if you are in the confines of the ark, note the similarity to Noah's Ark, an place where shelter can be taken from massive extermination. also, this would only make sense because this is the only way the human race could survive, there had to be some people who were left after the explosion to repopulate.

You want to know what it'd be like to have no moderators on this site? Try this easy to prepare simulation.
Step 1: Procure yourself an intact box, something a fridge or similarly large appliance.
Step 2: Fill cardboard box halfway with feral cats. One or two should be rabid.
Step 3: Climb inside the box, closing the top behind you.
Step 4: Begin screaming and thrashing wildly at the cats.

mred423 is right in my understanding. I took the end of Halo 2 to mean that the remote activation for the rings was on Earth. This could also suggest that the Forerunners initially inhabited Earth. A crazy suggestion but still plausible...
Also, only one ring has been destroyed. The only thing that still doesn't make sense to me is the whole thing about that huge flood. I can't remember its name right now, but at the end of Halo 2 it somehow was on the covenant ship with Cortana. And I think it will be interesting to play without Cortana's guidance. She was the important guider in the first two, but in Halo 3 you won't have access to her so things will be different.

yeah gravemind is another cliffhanger left unanswered which will liven the plot of halo3. the flood reminds me of another Noah's Ark comparison. In both cases (noah's ark and halo's ark) the ark is used to escape a(the) flood. just mentioning...

I love how when a mod does not interfear, the fans can cover many topics on one topic. :)

Anyways, The gravemind is what the plant flood is called. He is by far the most adavaced of the parisetic nightmare. I remember way back, that the flood have a calective mind, its slow and not as efficent as one single mind, but it is all one. It learns by obsorbing its host's thoughts and knolodge. It does this by ofsetting the Humans Nervis system's electronic pulses. When Sargent Jonson got infected, and then had the radiation exposed to him, it damaged the spores, and effectivly changed his bio-rythims, thus the flood can not consum his body, and control his mind. But we dont know how much the flood can see from him, and since the spores are in his body, if they were to ever regain what they lost, could turn him into a flood. Sargent Johnson is going to be the biggest surprize of them all if the story is going to continue where halo 2 left off. Thats my personal opinion. *Note, this is all from memory of a long time ago debating and reading about halo. Some things could be wrong. Sorry for that if thats the case.*

What I dont get, is if i was correct about the flood, then the forrunners could have stopped them. Just alter your body to make it impossible for the flood to consume it. Unless The flood was a product of the Forrunners, and that it was another tool they created to unleash on one another; a weapon if you will. In this case, it could back fire on them, and while one side would be consumed, the other would make beter verions of the flood to counter the other side wiping them out. It could explain why the forrunners worked so hard to study the flood. Or it could be that the forrunners found the flood on a water planet. (see level 5 of the gass planet where the flood spores swam in the tank.) They brought it back to studdy, but an acident happened, and the flood spread. Because of there capibilitiy to read ones thoughts, the flood had acsess to the forrunners weapons systems, and thus used it against them on. It must have been fast, like in a 7 year war, because knowing the Forruners intellegence, they would have found a way to counter the flood. When they saw it was going to be to late, they build 7 rings to cover the galaxy, and a few ships left the galixy when the rings were activated. The Forrunners then sent the ark in twords earth. They proberly re planted the other aliens on there planets, and went away. Now, the forruners had the means to study the flood, and they were contained. So once the "reclaimers" set foot in the rings, after the knolodge of the ark, they could put an end to the flood, and all would be fine. To bad the aliens had there own intentions with there tools. Again, a lot of this is speculation, but it all could be a possible cause for such a tragic event of the forrunners. But wat about Gravemind? Could it be that the flood send all the bodies to 05 so that one collective hid could feed on them till the arival of another sentent creature? I don't know, but it could explain why this flood can take complete control over the monitar. Any thoughts?

you're right. we didnt destroy the second ring, but i think cortana is going to... or that was the plan anyway. and no i have not read the books. sory, im not a reader. im sure they are good. (but not reading the books lets me speculate alot mor onwhat i can imagine the games to be like) all im doing is speculating on what i know about The Halo games and waht id like to see from bungie. chances are am i am wrong... but im aware of that.
