Rules don't stop me.

I posted this in the Bungie Universe forum but decided that it probably belongs here more. It's a fictional scientific research paper (and story) about how the flood metastasizes hosts and other cool stuff. Happy birthday Halo.

The Flood: Host Physiology & Communication

Haven't had the time to read the whole thing yet, but I must say, it looks as if you put a lot of work into the visual aspects of your project. Looks fantastic, and I look forward to reading it :)

The tide is turning, brothers! Let us take our kingdom back!

This looks extremely legitimate. Seriously impressive, man. How long did this take?

Seriously, I've had the idea since last year and slowly started working on the intro. In the last three weeks its been all I've done in my free time. I've loved working on it though (even at 5:30 in the morning :D).

Cool. I've had that feeling myself, feels good, man. If you ever decide to undertake another project, we'll be waiting.

I like Halo games, nuff said.

That is pretty cool. Interesting perspective but that one guy is a tard.

I guess you're talking about the General. I had a hard time finding a solid motive for him to do what he did, but ended up being okay with it in the end. But yes, "tard" may describe all of that very well.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

I enjoyed reading all of it. The story was thought out, it seemed quite professional and real in the haloverse and your hypotheses about the workings of the flood were quite creative and believable. I also learned a few things :)
Although it seems weird that ONI decided to test on flood forms without more security measures.

I estimate 15 million specialized neurons of each type arein one Flood form, meaning they are segmented into battalions 15 million strong (although one would hope there are only 15 million total), since one entangled neuron only has one entangled counterpart.
And Isn't quantum entanglement only possible with 2 particles at the same time? And isn't 15 million nerve cells a little too small to communicate with 15 million flood forms at the same time?

I lolled at 'As he took my hand he said, "Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof..'

How did you make the infected dog photo?

Rules don't stop me.

Glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully one entangled neuron would be spurring neurotransmitters to very quickly transmit signals to all the other entangled (and not entangled) neurons just like in our brains. They work pretty fast.

The infected dog photo was very annoying to make. The background is from Sword Base in Reach. The dog is my own German shepherd that I photoshopped to have the Flood infection form morphing it. Problem was even with grainy filters it still looked too fake. So I worked on making it a thermal image and then threw in all the blood. Wee!

Amazing work. I'm not going to read through all that but the presentation is excellent.

I'm not going to read through all that but...

What every writer loves to hear... :D

Wow, that must of took a lot of time and work. I sure don't know if I could do anything like that. Nice work and really interesting information about The Flood. I really like the topic you picked. I'm going to save this tread so I have time to read it. (THANKS)
