Does this mean your community interactions are going to be boring and non-entertaining?
Totally. In fact, if anyone starts to have fun here, I want you to send a message to urk, because that is not what I am supposed to be doing.
Would you consider yourself familiar (knowledgeable, based on more than just hearsay) with the Bungie.net Community? Would you consider yourself familiar with the Community Forum Community?
I don't feel like a stranger or a newcomer here at all. I have been accessing Bungie.net since Halo 2. My clan was incubated here in a private group. It's still standing, as a record of all our lost time. I have been a lurker, if not a rampant poster. And, a lot of my interactions have transpired behind closed doors.
Will we see you assimilating into the existing community, or is it your intention to 'rule over' the community? Chairman DeeJ's Cultural Revolution?
I don't suffer from the delusion that I can rule over anyone. I am here to find out where your enthusiasms lie, and enable them to the best of my ability - that is assuming that they are "respectable".
As far as I can tell you don't have moderating powers. Would you like to be able to moderate the forums at some stage?
That is sort of irrelevant. I think our Forum Ninjas do a great job of keeping the peace and setting the tempo of the party. We are lucky to have them. I didn't come here to clean up this town or to insitute sweeping changes. I am here to do my part to sustain what has made this place great.
Promise us you won't prefer to be idolised by having fancy text over being humbly accepted and respected for being a genuinely nice person who honestly aims to maintain community spirit.
Okay, I can see a theme developing here, so allow me to attempt to set your collective mind at ease. I promise. I learned a long time ago (from other gamer community leaders) that you can't motivate gamers with tyranny.
What do you do for leisure (other than video games)?
Uhhhhhhhhhmmmm...
Well. Sometimes I like to...
No, I stopped doing that when Halo 2 came out.
Oh! I really like to go and...
Yeah, but I haven't done that since I started blogging and stuff.
I got nothing for you. Sorry.
In Halo and other various modern-day shooters, are you more of the Slayer/Deathmatch kind of guy, or more of a Strategy/Objective gamer?
I like objectives. I think that having something in play drives traffic around the map in an interesting way. A flag, a bomb, a hill. Anything will do, so long as both teams want to get some of that. Yet, there is a time when you just want to shoot those guns and make the other player the objective. Can you dig it?
Do you feel like you have a lot to learn from this community?
Certainly! I am not keeping this dialogue running because I think that gold text makes you rich. I can assure you that I am learning about this community as much as you are learning about me. Perhaps more.
Did you take someones job away? I already don't like you.
But I love you so much! To my knowledge, no one was kidnapped, drowned, or otherwise displaced so that I could appear before you today. Everyone is safely tucked into their beds.
When are you going to get tired of answering these questions?
When they stop serving a purpose.
Were you a moderator before an employee?
Yes. But not here. I guarded an outpost in the hostile territory of Xbox Live for six years. It was a learning experience - one from which I will draw upon here.
I just saw him post in the Flood and said, "who the heck is this?" Not to sound rude. So I traced his posts to this thread and thought I'd say Hi.
