Hmmm...I wonder if I can still get games in Matchmaking and if I still have friends to play Reach with?

*checks*

Yep. Don't care.

inb4 Reach drops underneath Halo 3.

This^

I am surprised that Halo 3 hold the number 8 spot up until 3 months ago, that is really impressive considering it almost 4 years into its lifespan compared to Reachs almost 1 year into its lifespan.

Halo Reach: Adapting to Randomness.

Reach is the first time in the Halo Franchise that Halo wasn't #1. I think it's in part due to more competition but mostly the Halo games getting progressively worse.

Also CEA isn't going to do sh1t; it doesn't have any more of a skill gap than default Reach. All it is a tribute to CE, meaning it won't affect the population at all.

MW3 til H4.

McDonald's is the #1 restaurant (lol) in the world. Doesn't mean it tastes good.

In fairness a lot of big games have just been released and also these stats are a week before Halo CEA was released so I would probably expected Reach to go to 4th or 5th in next weeks charts.

If only the Anniversary gametypes had been available from the get go. Some of the most genuinely fun gameplay this game has ever produced, and Reach would've likely held its population much better. Too bad Bungie felt it wise to limit us to playing "their" way.

Oh well. The Anniversary gametypes hold my interest for now, and will probably continue to do so. Really hoping Arena adopts the gameplay changes present in the Anniversary playlist in the upcoming season.

So was Reach's population decline a result of its different game mechanics, the increased competition, or did the series finally reach its natural end (or was it something else)? Was it a combination of factors?

It has to be the bad matchmaking, why would you even want to have a matchmaking system in 2011 unless its a ranked playlist is beyond me.
Look at most onlinegames these days they have player matches where players can leave and join mid games. While if a game allso has a ranked playlist you dont get to quit or join mid games as it shoulde be.
Players that play social playlists wants to have the ability to play what ever map/gametyp they want to with the ability to leave if a bad map or gametype gets voted for.
So many times i have been forced to play -blam!- maps/gametypes and if i leave to many times i get a 10 min ban for leaving a social playlist.

So i say Reach shoulde have had Player Matches for the Social part and Matchmaking for the Ranked.

And it's fading. Not because of its own failures but rather the success of others.

3 re-skins of the same game are above Reach and you believe Reach isn't a failure?

Sure, you can compare it to many games on the market, it will be better than them.
Compare it to previous games in the series, it's sub-standard.

ATTENTION MODERATORS. My latest ban (14-day ban from Qbix89) is not legitimate, take a look for yourself. Please review this before considering me a "repeat offender". Thank you.

This is what my opinion states as well.

Halo: Reach is a fantastic game. However, Halo: Reach is not a fantastic Halo game.

My main dislikes about Reach is the campaign, multiplayer maps, and firefight.

Campaign:
-After Halo: CE. The story was losing focus. Do to multiplayer.
-The dialog is pathetic.
-Friendly A.I. is horrible.
-Nobel Team has hardly any character development.
-Noble Team can barley kill a Grunt.
-Almost every level was about activating switches.
-If you read Halo: The Fall of Reach. You would expect Reach would be something like that. But it wasn't we ran around the levels in the typical Halo style.
Checkpoint A Go to Checkpoint B. You encounter a small Covenant squad on the way.
Checkpoint B Go to Checkpoint C You encounter a small Covenant squad on the way.
Checkpoint D: Go to Checkpoint E You encounter a small Covenant squad on the way.
*Level ends.*
-Basically Bungie failed to capture the invasion of Reach.

Multiplayer Maps:
-The default non-forge maps are copied areas from the campaign. That's being really creative Bungie.
-The DLC maps are a disgrace to Halo. When you compare them to Halo 2, and Halo 3 DLC maps. It's sad that the remake DLC maps are the only good maps in Reach.
-Forge World. It's the same environment for the whole map.

Firefight:
-The maps are not made for defending in one area.
-ODST firefight was about survival. Now it's getting the highest score. While running around with the Rocket Launcher.

Best. Post. Ever.

Well, that's nice.

Why does that matter?

I love how Halo 3 still stayed top 3 until 2010.

Just proves how much of a fail Reach is and how retarded Bungie looks praising it.

  • 11.17.2011 3:06 PM PDT

I guess these threads are a constant now. Whatever, as long as theres still people playing it, I could care less how low Reach is on the charts.

I wouldn't mind Halo with dedicated servers + server browsers. It's just simply a better system than P2P + match-making (save the costs, which is why anyone would consider P2P).

Dedicated servers also opens the door for larger game sizes, say 12v12's. And I love me some BTB.

"In life not all Yale students were smart, but all smart people were Yale students."
With a simple connection, almost, if not all serious Halo players are now considered dumb.

You may have realized how people can take something out of context.

Omg I care.

~ Videogames are my favorite videogames ~

There's also 3 call of duties in the top 5 and Halo 3 is number 16.
What else is new? This thread is pretty silly.
