I am writing down "names" of people who are nice to forum noobs. True story.
Despite the term 'Noob' currently being use in main stream advertising, I still consider it to be offensive and somewhat derogatory. Could you have not chosen a better term to represent a new users?
Probably one of the most ignorant and juvenile response possible to that post besides "Nuh-uh! You're a noob!!!" the word noob is from newbie. Someone new to a culture, environment, or community. If you take offense to the fact that someone says you havent been here long when you HAVEN'T BEEN HERE LONG... then that's ridiculous. It's a truth, and an obvious one at that. To be offended by such things is borderline stupid.

It's been forever since noob was considered a bad word. I'm pretty sure that I was banned for it years ago though.

Hell, I had a pre-typed rant/explanation for why we banned on it.

I still go back and read it every now and then just to remind myself how angry Texans can get sometimes.

Posted by: CrazzySnipe55-blam!- meant happy. It's borderline stupid to be offended by anything used in a way that is different from its original meaning!

...Mind you I don't consider that word offensive in the slightest... but don't go calling people out on crap like that mate, when what you say doesn't quite make sense.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Please. "Noob" is short for "newbie," which is a term that is -- literally -- older than the internet itself. It simply means that somebody is new (usually to something involving computers, the internet, and technology) and doesn't quite know their way around yet.

So stop jumping down our noob Community Manager's throat. He used the word correctly, in-context, and in a non-insulting manner.

Oh no, someone said noob. I'm offended!

What shall I do?

Oh, I know, I'll just be offended. Seriously, nothing happens!
It's not like, Yesterday I got offended, and today I woke up with leprosy

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

I think that's cool how you can form your own opinion rather than blindly follow that of Stosh's.

Also, @burrito, it still means what I said it means. Any interpretation otherwise is an immature interpretation (or usage) by someone to think it's a derogatory term is, still, ridiculous. -blam!- has not meant happy in modern society for a VERY long time, while noob still means newbie in quite a common (if not the most common) usage of the word.
