When the game is over, the king and pawn go into the same box

So, I picked up Anniversary on release night, but haven't had time to play it. Last night, I finally sat down to play a little firefight and anniversary matchmaking. Installation 04 was a lot of fun. It was pretty strange and exciting to be playing that map in a non-campaign way. Next up was anniversary matchmaking.

After playing only one match, all I have to say is... I get it. I get everything that everyone was saying about everything. Don't get me wrong, I like Reach. It's just that after playing anniversary, it's easier to contrast the two. I know anniversary is not perfect, but man, is it some high paced fun.

I know that anniversary is not exactly CE, but I think it's as close to a reasonable facsimile as we're going to get in Reach. What was surprising, was to really see and feel what the difference really are, and how much the games have changed. It's funny how you can lose that perspective over time.

i plai 4 fun gtfo

It's great. I only wish the other Anniversary playlists were fun, but AA's really ruin the flow of the maps. My only complaint about Anniversary Classic is that I mainly just play the same two maps over and over.

Welcome to the enlightened side, brother. It becomes painfully obvious who has and hasn't played the previous installments of the Halo franchise at a high enough level to actually critique the gameplay of these games by reading these forums and their staces on the Anniversary gametypes. And no, I'm not talking about ranks when I say this.

Hey, uh, if you like vs threads, then check out this little group right here, if you have the time. It's pretty fun, just hop right in.

It's alright I guess. I'm just going to find the Skulls and Terminals and then I'll probably never look at it again.

All it took was one game of Anniversary Team. Even my GF said, "Wow, I'm having flashbacks to LAN parties".

Everybody wants some.

The problem with most of the people who bash anniversary gametypes on this site is that they have never played CE to begin with, or at least been to a LAN party. They just assume it's terrible because it's so radically different from what default Reach has to offer. Anyway OP, glad you like it. Anniversary Reach for me is the second best Halo I've ever played (even better than H2), next to CE of course.

I'm still in a little bit of awe of how different it really is. I had no idea. I have been enlightened.

I agree. I will have to get use to it, but it's a lot more fun.

And no forge maps? Awesome.

Not saying it's bad. Just saying the difference it glaringly apparent. It's astounding how much the game has changed.
