We are all going to get banned aren't we?

343 says "your people have grown so dramatic in the last 100,000 years". Does that imply the Sangheili were around prior to the rings firing also? 343 also notes that Sesa should already know everything that he is being told which further implies they might have a Gea also (implied in The Flood).

I am starting to think every race that was saved had a certain Gea implanted in them.

Origins from Halo: Legends basically showed that the Elites were around before the Halos were fired. They were catalogued, which is why they still exist today.

As for the idea of a geas, I think thats an interesting theory, perhaps the Librarian implanted them with a geas too, but from a pure writing standpoint, I feel the concept of the geas was introduced by 343 and Greg Bear to explain the 'Reclaimer' idea to the readers. Kinda cheapens the entire thing if other species were also implanted with the geas.

My initial interpretation of what 343 said to Sesa was that it was merely an assumption made by 343. Spark probably would have recognized that the Covenant weaponry and technology was heavily based off some form of Forerunner tech and hence assumed that the Covenant had studied the Forerunners extensively and knew their entire, true history.

Sangheilos isn't their true homeworld then is it? same for the San shyuum.

If they were placed on a former forerunner world maybe a gea would help them reach what they once had? Reclaim.

Pretty sure Sanghelios was their true homeworld. After the rings fired, the Keyships brought the species back home. Same with how humans were returned to Earth, which we know from Halo: Cryptum, has always been their homeworld over the ages before the rings fired.

Perhaps a small geas was implanted to bring them back to some form of technological strength but it still sorta diminished the value of the 'geas' concept in my head, especially its significance to humans, something I don't think 343 Industries would do.

I say it might not be true due to all the forerunner relics on both those worlds. from cryptum we know that there were 2 planets in the San syumms system. So there might be something more to sangheilos

Just like Sanjeev said, if you watch Halo: Legends (Episode 1: Origins) you can see that before the rings were fired, some creatures from all known species were 'saved'. After the rings were fired, they were sent back to their homeworlds. Sanghelios was close to one of the instalations because Origins showed some pictures of Sanghelios, Doisac, Earth and the other planets that there was an instalation in the sky. The Humans and the San 'Shyuum had an alliance 10.000 years before the activation of Halo, during a war against the Forerunners. The San 'Shyuum surrenderd while the humans fought and lost. The humans were pushed back from Tier 1 to Tier 7. Perhaps that's the reason that no human knows of aliens before the contact in 2525. Maybe the Sangheilli had an alliance with the Forerunners before the activation of Halo and that's probably how 343 knows the Sangheilli.

I don't need a history lesson.

So the Sangheili could have been one of the the races the forerunners were "protecting"? not a bad idea

Just some useless extra information =P
But Iw just wanted to say that the Forerunners saved a few people from all species.

I find it hilarious that people still think the forerunners are so noble and mighty.

It was the librarian and her alone that fought for the conservation of life. If she didn't then nothing would have been saved.

I can only just imagine how much that would exasperate things post Halo 3 even further...

Crap. that would pretty much "confirm" the forerunners as gods.

Damn.

Not literal gods, but if the Sangheili were one of the races that the Forerunner were protecting from Humanity then not only would they possibly revere them again but they could quite possibly renew their attacks on Humanity once they get back on their feet, especially if the Forerunner come back and start trying to destroy Humanity again. They would take sides quickly.

Though I doubt the Sangheili had a prior alliance with the Forerunners. Something as big as that would have been mentioned by now. It looked like the Forerunner were alone in their actions. It is possible that the Sangheili were one of the 50 worlds that Humanity attacked, but there is no evidence for it really.

I feel like the hatred between the two races would be justified if that was the case.

Possibly, though I really hope that 343i just do not spin the story up this way. There is always the fact that Humanity did not do so out of malice, and that it was 100'000 years ago... And the fact that the Sangheili have just committed their own genocide. Using this as a means to continue the Human-Covenant war would be unbelievably lame and frivolous. But I can see it happening as per above due to all the drama we have and the fact that Humanity seems to be the bastard child of the galaxy now.

If the Forerunners did save the Sangheili and the Sangheili found that out their religion would go from an important part of their lives to something much bigger. Not only did their Gods exist but they saved them from the abomination that was the Flood. Imagine the effects. It would be like Noah's Ark, but it really happened for them.
