Subject: Armor Lock is gamebreaking. You can't deny it.

You're comparing a fantasy video game to real life. I'd say say you lost the argument.

The only answer i have to armor lock, or other armor ability complaints is to play game types that don't have them. Other wise you really have nothing to complain about other than how the world should bend to accommodate your false entitlment.

yes its still true after the 10000 person said it. we already know

  • 11.17.2011 9:37 AM PDT

I disagree that it breaks the game, as my teammates and i have no trouble adapting to an AL noob who hunkers down regularly.
i think you should play the TU if you have serious issues with standard armor lock. It makes it vulnerable to chip damage and headshots, which is a definite plus.

im dishonored you cant handle the fact that a new game in a series is different from its predecessors. but then again im biased, i love all halo games, as they are all awesome.

That's exactly why it's gamebreaking. It rewards noobs and steals from the better player.

I'm dishonored that you have Scat in your username.

You never played Halo 2. You must be young. Your opinion is invalidated by the fact that you don't understand what truly fast and equal gameplay is. Back in halo 2, we didn't have this armor ability -blam!-. And the game was much more fun because of that.

Ooh, I love those people, the ones who decide to throw everything and the kitchen sink at you, as if an M16 does anything to a T-90. Oh, MLG player with noobtube instead? Congrats! You blew off one of my ablative plates!

Gun, meet Bad Guy.
Bad Guy, this is Gun.

I've played Halo since day one, and I don't see Armour Lock as gamebreaking, I see it as fair like everything else and I actually hate that they modified it with all the other AA's.

Here we go again. Another elitist bull frog dismissing users arguments and moving goal posts.

Ah, an old friend of mine. Let's get started.

Halo Reach. It takes what, 5 DMR shots to kill someone? Ok. Me and some guy are having a duel. I pop 4 shots on him, he only gets 3 on me. I'm about to shoot him in the face to end the duel. Because I'm about to win the duel, I'm the better player here. I landed the most DMR shots in a timely fashion. But he goes into armor lock. And his teammate finishes me off. In Halo 2 or 3, I would have killed him, and then, maybe his teammate would have killed me. But I still would have got the kill I earned. But in Reach, why don't I? Obviously because of Armor Lock. How is that no game breaking. We go from 2 men enter, better man wins, to 2 men enter, whoever has armor lock wins.

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

OK, how about this situation:

Let's say that after I won the race to Rocket spawn on Boardwalk, I turn towards Blueberries and see three enemies running down from there. Triple Kill, right?

The first guy I aim at (since they aren't packed closely enough to get all three at once) goes into AL as I fire the first rocket. Now I only have one rocket, which I fire past the first guy while he's still in Armor Lock to try to pick up the Double Kill behind him. Then THOSE GUYS go into AL and shrug off that rocket. A Triple Kill just got completely negated because of Armor Lock.

Now, it's a three-on-one situation. Two of my teammates are securing our Sniper and Shotgun. My third teammate drops down from above to help me out by assassinating one of the enemies. But the guy he's about to back-smack goes into AL as the punch is thrown, EMPs his shield off, and immediately comes out of AL, turns around instantly, and punches him dead. The surprise attack that could have tilted the situation in our favor is completely negated because of Armor Lock.

So now we're back to the 3v1 scenario. I toss a grenade, hoping to weaken their shields to possibly clean up two of them before I die. But they go into Armor Lock while the grenade explodes and take no damage. Now, it's down to me and my DMR versus three people and their DMRs (let's exclude their nades). In this scenario, I am able to get one of the three people down to being a one-shot, with just enough time to pull off the headshot before I die. But right after his shield pops, he goes into Armor Lock, and his two teammates kill me. He then comes out of Armor Lock, and they rush up the stairs to engage the rest of my team.

So, three different courses of action are entirely negated by the press of a button. In a 3v1 situation when I have rockets and they are fairly close together, I should win, but Armor Lock takes that away. In a 3v2 with a surprise attack from behind, Armor Lock saves the guy from the surprise attack and takes that advantage away. In a 3v1 situation where I should get away with at least one kill, Armor Lock takes that kill away. How does that make for good gameplay?

Exactly.

  • 11.17.2011 10:49 AM PDT

oh my friend, just because i never had an xbl acct when halo 2 came out does not mean i never played. i have been playing since '01.. and am a college graduate, so i guess that would mean i understand your fabled "fast/equal" gameplay of old.

anyways, youre a loser for attempting to discredit others because of a difference in opinion. it only serves to further solidify my conclusion that you're just sore about losing in a video game.

It's not like you don't have an Armor Ability as well.

I do. Which makes the game equal.

  • 11.17.2011 11:34 AM PDT

Flash Kicks beat Armor Lock.

TheLab.

You have zero idea of what you are talking about.

Then i guess you just got outnumbered and leveled. it happens to us all man. I rage heartily too, but i always realize i was the one who blam-ed up if someone was able to kill me.

I didn't -blam!- up, I should have gotten a kill. But because of armor lock, I didn't.

Heck, with that logic I should get a kill every time I pull the trigger. Fact is you are using AL as an excuse (crutch) to explain why your Halo3 skills don't work in Reach. If you were a better player it simply wouldn't matter what AA was used. If you keep thinking after all this time that the other guy should die just because you shot them, no wonder you're frustrated. If Reach is just too much of a challenge for you there's good news: You can now play Halo CE online! No pesky AA's to test your skills! Just grab a magnum and fire away!

When you're ready to use your head a little more during a match you can come back to Reach.

If I shoot you 3 times and am going for the fourth headshot to kill you, I've earned the kill.
So you earned the kill before he's even dead? That's got to be one of the stupidest things I've heard. Obviously you never earned a kill because he didn't die. Instead, you earned a death for standing in front of an invincible person. Congratulations :/

You should acknowledge the fact that you have armor abilities as well.

you only earn a kill when you actually receive it.
No if buts or maybes, if you earned it, you are rewarded for it.
If someone uses an armor ability and you don't get the kill then you didn't earn it.

"In life not all Yale students were smart, but all smart people were Yale students."
With a simple connection, almost, if not all serious Halo players are now considered dumb.
If you disagree with the above quote:
You may have realized how people can take something out of context.

I'm pretty certain I've seen this a dozen times. Why does this have to keep coming up? Jesus.
