and i love how you are just hitting at my skill level instead of trying to provide an argument that says map control isn't camping.

So, what isn't camping then? Everyone just roaming around randomly getting into 1v1s?

actually using the map isn't camping...

that's how lower levels play. it's fun from time to time going rambo chasing kills

map controll?
really, all that is is camping in spots on the map that provide a big advantage and in AC these are spots that allow you to see the other person first
That is what map control is about in default also. The difference is AC maps actually have sightlines.
Posted by: con_extreme
you can see this a lot on beaver creek
They fixed the "broken" places from Battle Creek. The jump-ups to the base roofs are simplified, so I don't camp up there all game like I did in CE.

Is the movement speed still horrible (default 100%)? Honestly I just wanna play with no AA, 120 speed, 150-200% gravity, 125% jump with a 4sk dmr. no bloom of course.

Never going to happen =[

The jump is kinda whack (gravity is too much so you fall quicker) but you move faster

Map control is using the map.

Talking to staff captains is like talking to a brick wall, except the brick wall is smarter.

No the speed is increased.

The pistol is more fun, hands down.

Screw the DMR.

oh really?
so, staying on 1 area is using the map?
maybe like 10% of it, what about the other 90%?

Except that you don't want to be using the weaker parts of the map - you want to keep your opponents there so they're easier to kill and predict. Hence controlling high ground and choke points.

It's not camping IMO unless you're jammed into the corner of a room waiting to assassinate/shotgun/sword/hammer anybody either coming off a lift or walking through the door. Genuine camping is only possible on poorly designed maps. On good maps it's a poor strategy which results in losing.

=[ I'm going to reserve judgment until I play but it doesn't sound like too much fun. W/e my expectation are now lowered.

Ok Ill be sure to wander all over their side of the map like a major instead of playing smart. Thanks for the eye opening.

Most maps are built 25-25-50 percent, with 50 being neutral space and the other 25s counting your side and the enemy team's side. When you have a map like tempest which is 45-45-10 (10 being neutral space), the only place worth controlling is their side of the map--the 45 percent.

Maps with no neutral space usually play poorly. Similarly, maps with no bases play poorly as well.

Color me converted. Played it for the first time last night, and now I finally understand the difference.

yup, and you do this buy blocking there spawns to spawn them in those area's and those weak parts are only there due to poor map design and poor spawning.

i don't hit at them for abusing this though, the flaw is there and it's going to be abused.

the very low form of camping but camping is also staying in an area through out most of the game, i see this ALOT from single digit onyx but less from MLG gameplay.

Genuine camping is only possible on poorly designed maps.

which is the majority of halo maps

On good maps it's a poor strategy which results in losing.
just a pitty halo is lacking in decent maps.

There are 6 maps we have now that don't blow ass.

MLG Sanc and Oasis are the only other maps with decent spawns, that you can predict and influence.

it's how those area's are controlled is camping because of how the map is designed, you can stand in area's without really moving any where and just control the map completely.

Maps with no neutral space usually play poorly. Similarly, maps with no bases play poorly as well.

yea, maps with little or no neutral space to tend to play as one giant head to head battle with no realy flow or gameplay to them but maps with or without bases i'd say is debatable.

influencing spawns can't be avoided but how is predictable spawns a good thing?

Spawn traps are not indicative of poor map design. Spawn killing on Hang 'em High works exactly like it did 10 years ago. You control the high ground and kill anybody unfortunate enough to spawn on the bottom. Those kills are Halo's way of rewarding map control.

so you don't go wtf when the enemy team spawns behind you, like jump up spawn on Asylum.

To be fair, Sanctuary in Halo 2 had dynamic spawns for Slayer. And it worked pretty well.

honestly i do, those safety spawns get god damn annoying, but it is more anoying being killed then for the person that kill me to call out where i will be spawned and sure enough, there was some one there waiting for me..

really, i don't think spawns should be that predictable..
