Being put in disadvantageous spawns is one of the main reasons why most of the desirable spots on maps are, well, desirable. Limiting your opponent's options and interdicting their map movement is one of the main incentives of attaining map control.
which comes back to the abuse of poor map design and spawns, the game shouldn't be putting players in a bad position just because they can't get kills, the players themselves should be putting them in poor positions because, well, they are bad and don't know any better.
sure they put themselves in that position by letting the other team game control of the positions on the map but they shouldn't be spawning in poor positions but instead are limited to what they can and can't do which is will be caused by the other team having map control but at the moment, poor map design allowing players to stay in certain area's of the map over looking spawns to block them along with poor spawns causes the game the put the other players in a bad position and not because they put themselves there.
It's always been a part of Halo gameplay, and should remain so. And besides, in almost every situation, it's possible to fight one's way out of a spawn trap with proper coordination with one's teammates. If the losing team lacks this coordination to counter the opposing team's coordination, again, they deserve what they get.
so, bad maps and spawns should stay?

Look at it this way. If you're playing CTF, and you kill the whole other team. Should they spawn in a safe location where they can earn the chance to make a counter-attack? No. The only safe place for them to spawn would be inside their base.
How is that fair to the team pushing for the flag? It isn't. Like Zanzibar for example. When the enemy was arming the bomb you spawned outside of you're base. In the open. The other team is in you're base. By you spawning outside its fair for them to try and do the Obj work. Its not terrible spawn locations, its fair.
The game should not accomidate you for losing you're battles.
Halo CE-3 punished you for making bad choices.
Reach doesn't.
