I don't think my idea from the previous page about the Graveminds "battles" was understood well.
I didn't mean they actually went to war internally, as in a civil war of some sorts. What I believe, as Grey and others also say, is that each Gravemind has its own focus (maybe its own "given" objectives). For instance, a Proto-Graveminds primary goal is to grow big enough to get selfconscious as a real Gravemind. Each Gravemind probably has some basic plans, like escaping the Ring they're trapped on, or devouring all sentient life in their nearby proximity.
Now, that might work for a while but all the while there is no common goal as there is no common mind behind all these different clusters of Flood.
What I meant with my original post on the matter, is not that the Graveminds would battle each other, but that at some point one might become more "advanced" than the others and using that position to its advantage. I'm sure that most developed Gravemind would then see the need for the Flood to have one single mind behind them to orchestrate the entire "operation" of consuming the Galaxy. So at that point, in my idea/theory, that most advanced Gravemind will take over the Proto-Graveminds into its own mass to become even bigger and even smarter (as it would then have all the knowledge of every "cluster" stored in one location: itself)
Again, I don't believe a Gravemind would battle its own "people" in a war, but that its merely an act of assimilation thats natural to their process: the strongest will survive...
Oh I see what you meant. I suppose this makes more sense than the flood literally warring with itself, especially after reading your post along with sonicjohn's.
So, you're essentially saying that the more powerful Graveminds can "take over" or assimilate the more primitive versions into their biomass but ultimately, all the GMs would still have the same goal and agendas?
Thats what I believe, yes. But that's not taking in account that a Gravemind seems to also have a personality, so while each might have the same goal (consuming all sentient life), their agendas might still differ (for instance targeting a certain species most because it has some grudge against them).
