Bungie, you just don't get it do you? What makes a game is more than just one weapon, its a system of designs of weapons, movements, and grenades. In your attempt to remake Halo 1 multiplayer, you totally failed. In Halo 1, you could shoot across the map on large levels like Hang Em High. In this remake of yours, you can't because the pistol has such bad aim. I was playing just the other day, and the entire enemy team was all out in the open, using NO COVER, which you had to constantly do in Halo 1 because of the pistol. This means the game style and skill level is nothing like Halo 1 because people can be as reckless as they please.
Another important topic is the grenades. Grenades are very simple to design- You make them blow up slowly, and have large explosive radiuses so that you can plan a move and force somebody to move into your attack. Grenades are not for just randomly blowing people up because they can't see the grenades and the grenades blow up really fast. Yet in your remake of Halo 1, you removed this essential element of grenades, and kept your poor excuse of grenades that blow up almost instantly and randomly bounce around. You did make them blow up slower, and bounce more, but they still blow up almost instantly after done bouncing. I must say, maybe the bounciness does help it get around cover to force people out, but the fact that it blows up right after, makes it so somebody can randomly get hit by it without the chance to avoid it, so that noobs can use grenades and get kills with them without planning. Horribly done, and nothing like the original game.
And this leads me to my next point. Without the ability to push guys out of cover with grenades, people can camp with shotgun. That's all people do with the shotgun in this game. And due to that, you purposely made the shotgun poor at far range so that you could only camp with it. The shotgun was good at almost any range in Halo 1, because its slow shots did good damage, but it sucked at shooting people while being out in the open. The use of the shotgun in Halo 1 was to use grenades to lure them into a point blank shot, or to push them back and shoot once while peeking out of cover, and tactics such as these. Horribly done, which is actually mainly a cause of your removal of the grenades making it so people HAVE TO camp with the shotgun to do well with it.
Not only all that, but you guys failed to bring back the 2x zoom sniper rifle. The sniper rifle was not about range in the first Halo, it was about waiting for somebody to come around and shoot their head off before they had a chance to shoot you. In fact, the sniper had delayed shots so that you had to wait for them, rather than just shoot randomly.
Not only all this, but the plasma rifle still is not back. Before, it slowed enemies down so that you could close in and do a melee attack. Now, all it does is drain shields making it a trashy weapon.
And lets not forget about teleport melee attacks. It RUINS up close combat. In halo 1, even at upclose combat you had to plan your moves and plan your shots. In Anniversary, you just keep meleeing as long as you are close. In halo 1, you could close in on somebody with a grenade and quickly run in and punch, rather than teleport to the target. Even if somebody was really close to you in Halo 1, you could easily back off and they wouldn't be able to melee you. The melee system of your new games are HORRIBLE!!!! Do you honestly think there is skill in just jumping in circles and randomly meleeing when you are 5 feet away? WOW!
You poor poor morons. You have no idea how to design. You honestly think that one weapon is what makes or breaks a game? Its a combination of movements, grenades, balance of weapons, balance of tactics, all kinds of elements. And you morons thought that just bringing back a 3shot pistol would solve all that. Let me give you a hint- I played Halo 1 not long before you guys released this Halo Anniversary game. The two games are NOTHING alike. Halo 1 has totally unique tactics, and a unique playstyle. But you morons will always keep your same old Halo Reach noob tactics, while pretending that you brought back Halo 1 when really you didn't. -blam!- you bungie. Thats all.
Your argument is somewhat valid, but you are missing some points.
First, 343 industries made HALO CEA, Not Bungie.
Second, The Whole Point of HALO CEA was to reintroduce the Halo 1 campaign remastered with achievements and graphics; Multiplayer was suppost to be like Reach, not like Halo 1.
I do understand what you meant with the multiplayer maps; They were designed and layed out for Halo 1 multiplayer, not reach. If you wanted the Halo 1 experience, send a message to 343 Industries and tell them, not Bungie, because Bungie doesn't own Halo anymore.
