Subject: Armor Lock works as intended.

Now day...wait...nvm i'm tired.

if only you Bk's would realize that using armor lock is actually making you worse. You start to depend on it for everything, you think you can run into entire enemy team and survive some how, you think your team mates will save you.

if all of you were to stop using it, at least 50% of those who use to use it will get better at playing this game.

I don't use it, that's the thing:P

No point to it, when you think about it.

I used to use AL until the community adapted. Now I use Sprint and Camo.

ATTENTION MODERATORS. My latest ban (14-day ban from Qbix89) is not legitimate, take a look for yourself. Please review this before considering me a "repeat offender". Thank you.

It doesn't matter now.

I just feel well-assured that Halo 4 will not have Armor Abilities, considering all the controversy it has caused.

You can go ahead and argue all you want about how my statement may not be true, but smart game developers don't place entities that have mixed opinions on the said entities in the sequel game.

because its a pause button.

Implying that a break in the action is a bad thing.
it is when an entire team is using it.

I'm sorry you get so easily frustrated or otherwise unhappy.

you must be extremely tolerable, as its almost the same thing as some one constantly pausing a video your trying to watch.

I am very tolerant of it because I know what I am getting in to and I can accept the fact that my opponent is going to do anything they can to make sure I die and they stay alive, because that's exactly what I'm trying to do.

Armor Lock was not properly balanced, but a lull in the action is not enough to make me even think about getting angry.

You are incorrect.

Capcom kept X-Factor for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 when it was widely talked out against in tournament play in Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

And Capcom is a very smart developer studio.

Because instead of just removing it they tried to balance it so that it would be more acceptable.

That's what a good developer should do.

The only times you should out right remove something is if it a) can't fit within your scope of the game, b) don't have the time for it, c) can't fix bugs it creates (crashes, etc), or d) can't balance it well enough to make it worth using but not overpowered.

Armor Lock was not balanced well in my eyes, but it certainly does not fall under D either because while it was very strong in instances, in the overall picture of the game it had enough of a weakness to remain. It's just the weaknesses weren't weak enough.

When you're developing a multi-million dollar blockbuster, it isn't.

All I'm saying is that it isn't a wise move to do something like that. Armor Abilities, the ranking system, bloom cadence, and many other Halo: Reach features were all controversial, and I'm expecting 343 Industries to be smart and not include these features (or the specific variants of these features shown in Halo: Reach) in the sequel at all.

Might as well be more safe than sorry.

The wisest move is to try and re~balance things to not only include them in the game but make the game enjoyable for the largest possible audience.

That rejects nades, rockets, bullets, scorpion missles, wraith blasts(which seems absurd) and every thing else.

Armour Lock works as it is intended, as a crutch, a pause button, and toggle-able invincibility all in one noobcombo that cannot be countered because the only "counter" is to sit and wait for the Armour Ability to run out, and even then it's not technically a counter, considering that you're just waiting for it to end rather than actively doing anything to prevent it from happening, or shorten it's duration while it is in effect.

I was a finalist :P

All's fair in love and war.

Armour lock can be used to prevent the team you verse from attaining a point on the scoreboard, or hinder their progress.

Me? I don't really care what tactics people use, even if people view it as "unfair" (short of cheating of cause).

I trolled Armour-lock in a custom infection gamemode. The dumb creator of the gamemode made all of the AAs infinite use and no time limit :D So, I went into Armour-lock for half an hour and peeved everyone off. 'Twas fun.

LOL, ROFL, SAME! HAHA.

Oh god I remember something like that, like my three best friends and I were invited to this custom infection gamemode utilizing the entirety of the Forge World as a makeshift hide-n-seek map for infection. My friends and I picked Armour Lock from the word "Infection", found the highest point on the map (that could be climbed), and sat in Armour Lock for hours.

The kid who was hosting the event ended up crying and booting us after about an hour, lmao.
Never laughed so hard in my life since then <3

They should just make an HLG playlist then you guys can hide against each other and see how much fun it is.

I don't know if it was or was not intended to work like this, but I sure know it is a bad addition to the game.

  • 11.18.2011 4:23 AM PDT

Armor Lock COULD be balanced if it wasn't so versatile. If it was designed around just tanking short bursts of damage rather than withdrawing into a shell for a time. Here's how I would change it:

1-2 second duration
No EMP
Still wrecks boosting vehicles
No sticky shedding

Still lets you tank those grenades/rockets/boosting Ghosts without you become a huge stop sign for your opponents. Seems fine to me really.

Yep, I'd be ok with it as well.

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

Just because it works as intended, it doesn't make it any more balanced.
