Subject: Armor Lock works as intended.

Happiness is a warm gun

It's been over a year and threads like this are still popping up? Why?

Armor Lock COULD be balanced if it wasn't so versatile. If it was designed around just tanking short bursts of damage rather than withdrawing into a shell for a time. Here's how I would change it:

1-2 second duration
No EMP
Still wrecks boosting vehicles
No sticky shedding

Still lets you tank those grenades/rockets/boosting Ghosts without you become a huge stop sign for your opponents. Seems fine to me really.

Yep, I'd be ok with it as well.

On a side note, wtf you a brony?

Yep. Don't worry though, other than what you obviously see there I keep it mostly to myself and don't mindlessly spew pony memes everywhere. Besides, I feel the picture conveys my general feelings towards this forum quite well, lol.

My stats

I'm retired

It doesn't matter if it works as intended. That's not the issue. The issue is that it's a retarded concept that shouldn't be in a Halo game.

Very funny

AL works as intended, but its still OP and doesn't belong in Halo multiplayer

LONG LIVED METAL

If you guy paid attention back in the Beta days, during the weekly updates(Don't you miss those?) Bungie went down on how each armor ability was used and druing some vidocs they showed us. In interviews they clearly stated that Armor lock was ideal for calling in backup while you were down, "You go into Armor Lock, and call in backup for 6 seconds" I'll find the video soon, but still.

Why are you mad at something that works as intended?

I totally agree with you.

In addition, it isnt much different to people sprinting away when they are about to die and calling in their teammates to finish off the kill.

It isnt much different to the "tag team" method, where one person pops out to deal some damage, switches with the team mate to let him do some damage and recharge his sheilds, then switching back, and so on.

Fact is people complain because it is irritating...and dont get me wrong...I also find it irritating. But it is a legitimate tactic, just like camo sniping, flying straight up above your attacker, blocking your opponents radar with camo, grenade spamming, camping with shotguns, double melee, etc.

How is it overpowered?

They become a rock for 6 seconds.
they cannot shoot you and you cannot shoot them.
Their team mates can kill you and if your team mates were there too it would expand the battle.

Of all the AAs, I wouldn't mind them keeping Sprint in the sequel. It was nice to actually be able to run for once in a Halo game. When I create custom games with my friends, that is what we use, just Sprint.

I used to use AL when I started Reach but have since switched to Sprint and maybe Hologram/Jetpack (depending on the level). But then again. My friends and I like to keep the action small, so we created what we call a Deathbox/Deathbowl with randomizer settings. Random weapons, no grenades, infinite ammo and no abilities. Straight up, just kill everyone.

  • 11.18.2011 5:22 AM PDT

I still hate it along with jet pack, active camo and hologram.

Why is hypocrite spelled with an E at the end?
The I in crite is not pronounce as eye.

So, on the one hand I spell it out exactly as it should be.
You follow the standard set before you by fools who can't even get a handle on the rules of their own language.

Jetpack works as intended, but you're still ghey for using it.

I have a list all ready and handy for questions like this.

> 360 view (and thus melee)
> Sticky shedding
> Vehicle EMP
> Vehicle destruction
> Shield EMP
> 6 second invincibility

Please explain to me how an AA ISN'T OP with all of those abilities because quite frankly I don't see how people can say it isn't.

1-2 second duration

I'd never limit it to that low simply due to the fact that lag could actually completely negate the whole ability.

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

I would much prefer the shorter duration and reduced secondary functions, but I don't understand why running into a guy in AL blows up a perfectly healthy Ghost or Revenant or Warthog. I can run straight into a wall and survive, why not when I run into a guy in AL?

I think the better question is why do your not damage you vehicle at all, or not that much, when you run into those other objects?

You do take damage, only not a whole lot. Ram into a wall with a fully-boosted Ghost and you will take some damage; run into a guy in AL and you explode. AL even exploded Warthogs and Revenants, which really should be able to just go over the AL.

The only one I can see as reasonably exploding when boosting into AL is the Banshee, but why you're trying to splatter people in a Banshee is beyond me.

That's the point I'm making.

The question shouldn't be "why do I explode when I hit an Armor Locker," but rather it should have been... this entire time, "why haven't Ghosts exploded on impact when ramming walls, rocks, and other structures at high speeds?"

  • 11.18.2011 12:26 PM PDT

Boltshot = mini shotgun

Unfortunately, your explanation, OP doesn't stop people from raging about AL. I don't mind it because I'll still find a way to get the kill, but I don't use AL(or anything but sprint/evade, for that matter).

The atomic bombs dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima worked as intended. Why do you guys keep complaining that they killed millions of people? I just don't get it.

Shut up. Right now. That's the most horrible anecdote I've ever heard. How can you relate Armour Lock to the bombing of hundreds of thousands. All future comments from you are void due to inhumanity.

Sometimes it's the same line of thinking of the people who dislike something means it should always be removed.

2-3 seconds then?

The point is that an ALer actually will regenerate enough shields to tank another gunshot (in default settings anyway) if they use the entire duration at no shields. Which is absolutely ridiculous.

I personally would have set Armor Lock as an Ability that feeds off Shields and uses Shields to power it.

Activation: Costs 10% of Max Shields.
Usage: 10% of Max Shields per second.
Depletion: Normal Weapons fire do 100% normal damage to Shields. Grenades, Power Weapons, Melees, and Vehicles do 50% damage (maybe slightly less). Plasma Grenades do 100% damage.

So while you could potentially sit in place for a total of 9 seconds if you activated Armor Lock with full Shields, your Shields can also be quickly depleted which then quickly depletes Armor Lock and forces the player out of it.
