The coding is just like the Red and blue flames. and those were CLASSIFIED as DLC. when you bought the Legendary Edition of Halo Reach, you got a card with a code for the Red flames. you input that in and it Downloaded to your xbox, conducting as a Downloadable Content aka DLC. The Blue flames i missed out on because i was in a different state at the time so i honestly dont know how that one worked. But im 90% sure that it was implemented the same way. So therefore it IS possible for new Armor to be implemented on reach. Shoot, there probably saving the new armor for Halo 4's Multi-player. No one honestly knows. and whatever anyone says is skeptical and only believed unless there's hard proof. And by the way, Theres sites saying "click here to get new Reach armor" you see this, close the tab. its one of those surveys that you must buy something for. Most likely a scam. once i seen the survey i sighed and said "to Effing good to be true" so be looking out for those.

P.S. The talk of the GrD Helmet, there's hints to it being available to the public due to the teddy bears wearing the Helm hidden in the multiplayer maps of Anniversary. Most know of these cute things that make a noise when you punch them. I even thought if i found them all and hit them i might unlock it. Sadly mistaken. its only there for fun and to tease.

BTW, if your looking for me on XBL, im Prophet Lelouch. For some reason, my profile name on here is my Very First GT and i dont know how to change it. Personally i dont think i can. If i can, would someone mind telling me how?

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

Armor like red and blue flames are items that have existed in the armory the entire time, but remain hidden and locked. Downloading via code to the marketplace simply unlocks the item and makes it visible to players.

I read the first 2 sentences and I already know your wrong.

The Flames were already in the game. The codes simply allow acess.

New armor is not possible. So get over it, you're not getting any new barbies dresses for your Spartan Barbie.

ok then mr. boom, explain how new armor isnt possible. whats the difference in adding new armor but they can add a map? oh, and if you dont mind, dont put any more smart remarks. Just because you dont like reach doesn't mean you have to anger everyone else that does. I don't like Spartans anyway. I prefer Elites.

Armor is saved into each and every map separately, this is how it has been in all Halo's. If 343 wanted to add new armor, they would have to replace EVERY map with a whole new copy, which makes a +7 GB forced download. You would need the download regardless if you want new armor in order to play since you would have a different map copy than those who do.

Maps work as DLC because it is a whole new map to download, nearly anything, aslong as it isn't things like armor, can be added to said new map but would only appear/work on that map (ODST allies on Installation 04 for example)

It is impossible in the sense that it is so unnecessary and impractical, it would be a waste of 343's time just to add some armor to a game. It's the same reason why there is no DLC armor for Halo 3.

It only takes a simple question to change everything.

The red and blue flames were already on the disk. The DLC for the red flames was just to unlock it.

you make valid points but the Spartans and elites running around on the maps are just sprites that dont have to be coded onto the maps. its like taking megaman and putting him in marios worlds. its not modding, its sprite coding and character modles. if the modle exists already on a certain field then a new addition can be downloaded which is encoded to fit on that sprite and/or modle that is designed for that area. also, those updates that happen ever so often can hold this data you say is needed to be re-downloaded. we ARE in the stage where if microsoft made a xbox system update that changed one little section of the xbox's fan coding to alter its speed, they could remotely fry our xbox's. and i noticed that before the Blue flames, Before i went to texas, i didnt have to update, i get back when no new DLC was released and it was two weeks after BD there was an update for me. im not saying your wrong, but these are the possibilities that i havent seen ANYONE say. software and Live Updates could hold the answer.

Holy crap, not only are you persistent, you're also incredibly stupid.

There has NEVER been an update for added armour and there never will be, due to the simple fact that if say, a single piece of armour (Let's have the "GRD" helmet as an example in this argument), each map that has all the armours packed with it on disc would need to be replaced, that is each and every map which is well over 30 megabytes in size would need to replaced by downloading new maps so that you can run around with the new armours - that is not simple "replaces" or "mods", armours are HARD CODED into maps.

Which is why it is simply NOT FEASIBLE SO STOP ASKING FOR IT YOU MORON.

Thanks to Halo's file structure, that simply isn't possible.

One, yes you are, you're attempting to say "it may be possible!" when it IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE.

Two, look at one.

And three, that's your opinion, you overly sensitive sack of fail. I'm not being "tough", I'm genuinely bothered at why you wouldn't even attempt posting this dumb crap that you've posted thus far and that is why I'm doing my best to insult you, and it looks like you reacted, so from a troll perspective, I won, which I don't care at all, really, because I expected you to retort in such a manner.

Op, your explanation is wrong, however, it is very possible to add new armor. This has even been confirmed by 343, cause on halo fest they said: Adding armor is something we wanted to add with the TU, but we didnt have enough time

I'm curious why the armors were coded the way they were. It seems odd to integrate the Spartan models directly onto the .map files in that manner, makes the file sizes for the maps much larger and leaves less room for making additions to the game.

It's quicker to load from a single map file rather than juggling two different locations to load crap from, I've been in game design, trust me it's an arse to try and deal with resource management especially if you're dealing with multiplayer games that have multiple maps and character models, sounds, etc.

Well that makes sense I suppose. Doesn't really affect me inasmuch that I don't care about armor. All those redundancies in the files must eat disc space quickly though, as every possible character model must be placed in the coding for each map. Character models are decent sized files aren't they?

Not really, the data for the armour models would most likely be under 5 megabytes all up quite easily, but to add one single piece of armour to the entire game, 343i would have to go through each map file, add that one piece of armour to every single map (including the campaign map files I assume), and then force update everyone to download those updated maps that now have the armour. Quite unfeasible, imagine the size of the update! D:

armor DLC is not impossible but really hard to code into the game so don't expect any armor DLC.

and the GRD is not on retail disks to clear that up aswell
