Hi I'm Tyler

As most of you know halo is now owne by 343 Studios. WHY ???

As much as they enjoyed it, Bungie was putting way too much energy and resources into one series. I wouldn't want to do that either, I would want to expand.

Besides, I think it was in the contract.

Business. Microsoft owns the rights to Halo, when Bungie split from Microsoft they lost the rights to Halo and 343 industries took over (I believe 343i is a subsidiary of Microsoft).

Bungie had a 10 year contract with M$ and decided not to renew it. Since M$ owns Halo, they brought a new company (which also happens to be a subsidiary) in to manage the franchise after Bungie's contract expired.

Bungie wanted to do more than Halo. Also, 343i does not own Halo; Microsoft does.

Also incorrect, Bungie was owned by Microsoft (Microsoft bought Bungie before the release of the original Xbox.) up until just after the release of Halo 3. At which point Bungie became an independent company again. As part of the deal to allow Bungie to become independent Microsoft would retain ownership of Halo and Bungie would make two more Halo games; Halo 3:ODST and Halo:Reach. 343i was formed within MS Studios to manage all things Halo.

Hey, uh, if you like vs threads, then check out this little group right here, if you have the time. It's pretty fun, just hop right in.

Bungie probably got bored with Halo. It's understandable. I wouldn't want to be stuck with the same series another ten years either.

Bungie wanted to move onto different things. I have plenty of faith in 343.

RC Clone is the anti-thesis of a lurker.

Because Microsoft wanted to release a new Halo game every year till 2020 and Bungie wasn't going to do it.

Bungie loved Halo but didn't want to spend another 10 years making it so after their contact with Microsoft expired they split and Microsoft set up a new studio to handle the Halo IP.

This is actually really good because this means that we get awesome games from Bungie (Destiny should be revealed soon) and we have a new team of developer veterans working on the Halo series with a majority of them being fans of the series.

Also 343i's engine designer worked with NASA on rockets before so I am sure the new version of the Halo engine will be amazing.

Bungie went to Activision, next game is a COD/Halo mix. You are a super soldier in the future and you are defending the US from a big threat. LOL jk I have no idea what they're actually working on. But seriously 343 is gonna do a great job with the coming Halo titles.

Their new game is called Destiny and its apparently going to be some kind of MMOFPS but not in the traditional sense.

Really sucks for Bungie that the stupid contractor leaked all that info :(

We really have no info on the title other than the name and the genre of game it is.

So all that we know is that its a MMOish FPS called Destiny.

First off, Bungie's contract with Microsoft was up, so they had no other choice to hand over Halo unless they wanted another contract with Microsoft, but they did not want them breating down their throte. So I do not blame them.

Second, they were putting their all into one game and they wanted to put their talents into something else, and since 343i and Bungie worked closely together, 343i was the most trusted by Bungie, so they decided that 343i would be perfect to manage Halo. Frank O'Connor of Bungie moved to 343i just to make sure that they would not screw anything up.
