Subject: Jorge isn't dead...

No point to it, when you think about it.

Carter's not dead.
Kat's not dead.
Six isn't dead.

Neither are James, Li, Daisy, Joshua, Vinh, Samuel, Isaac, William, Anton, Malcolm, Solomon, Arthur, Grace, Cal, Sheila, Alpha company, Beta company, or Gamma company. None of them are.

Spartans never die. Not because they're invincible. Far from it, actually. Because even then they're gone, they live on in the hearts of those they died to save. They live on in us, in the books, in the games, in our monuments to them.

...Emile's totally dead though.

Waypoint isn't pro-anything so much as they're just anti-intelligence.

Nope they all died.

Actually they aren't dead because they're made up characters that were never alive.

They were never alive.. It's a video game

I agree, they are not dead. But for totally different reasons.

What Reach doesn't explain is that every Spartan is secretly James Bond, meaning they all found some strange and unrealistic way to escape death. Using Rhino's. And possibly a jar of jam.

No point to it, when you think about it.

Serious now: It's possible Jorge survived for multiple reasons.

1. The slipspace bomb, despite shearing the big ship into pieces, was merely that: A slipspace rupture. I'd like to point you to the Halo 3 ending, the slipspace portal sheared the ship in half, but both remained intact.

2. Survival does not equal retrieval. Both Master Chief and Cortana survived and simply haven't been retrieved due to circumstance. Remember that one Spartan-II in the Fall of Reach with the jet-pack that got shot and exploded? He survived as well, but was again, unable to be retrieved.

3. The small ship Jorge was in was completely intact, because the bomb encompassed it and cut the larger ship. The only damage done to the smaller ship would be a possible impact with the section of the larger ship.

For these reasons, it is POSSIBLE Jorge survived.

Hey, uh, if you like vs threads, then check out this little group right here, if you have the time. It's pretty fun, just hop right in.

What happened to Jorge was much different from what happened to John.

Basically, when the SlipSpace bomb-thing went off, it reduced him to atoms. Damn near anything would be killed by that. And even if he hadn't, he'd just be floating in SlipSpace for the rest of his life. If he wasn't pulled apart in there anyhow.

  • 11.19.2011 7:58 PM PDT

No point to it, when you think about it.

Multiple flaws there. First of all, it mentions in the books you really shouldn't take apart or alter those slip-space drives, so it was remained exactly as is. The only difference was without a power source, it was a burst, or a "bomb". It was just a really short slip-space rupture used for slip-space transit.

Once more, without the external power source, eventually they would decelerate and leave the slipspace field, which you admitted it was possible he'd survive and just be "floating in slipspace for the rest of his life", therefore unless he hooked up the bomb to a battery or engine, eventually the field would collapse and leave slip-space.

And once he left it...then what? You realize space is 99.9999999999999999---% just that - space. Absolutely nothing, anywhere, for billions of miles. The odds of him reappearing in an atmosphere, let alone one he can breathe, are so slim it's not even worth counting. And his suit only has ninety minutes of air. And who says it'll protect him from whatever cosmic f***ery that goes on in SlipSpace, anyway?

Lets see...the fact that John and some other Spartan's do it in a Spirit Dropship in "First Strike"? They launch the Spirit from a covvie ship whilst it's in slipspace, and it exits just fine.

Also, I'd like to point out he was breathing just fine when he removed his helmet, and since the field completely encased the smaller ship, no damage would be done to it. Therefore life support systems are accounted for. Next argument?
