I tend to think that if you have to ask if you are allowed to post something or not, you shouldn't bother.

That being said, send a message to a Forum Ninja for clarity. After all, they're the ones who enforce the rules.

I think in this case it's all based on how he presents it.

Assuming that you're only emulating games that you've already purchased physical copies of then I would assume that any troubleshooting issues or issues locating the ROM would be fair game to discuss. I'd go ahead and make the thread but you may want some actual clarification from a Ninja.

Probably depend on the moderator.

Some will flat out perma you on the spot for saying anything remotely close to *****.

EDIT - Actually, I should edit that word out, wouldn't want to get a perma myself.

Whoo.

I don't think so, given that you own the game you're emulating and/or it's free.

For instance Aleph One is a emulator used to run Marathon which is now free, I don't think there should be any problems with asking about that, there's even a thread already made about that.

Although I guess that example has it's own area you can ask about it, but you get the general idea, as long as it's not intrinsically illegal/to do with piracy then there shouldn't be a problem.
