LOVES (sorry not much going for it)

Asasination Animations 10/10
Graphics (textures)in general 9/10

HATES (sorry to much against it)

Server connection times 3/10
Uneven game matching 1/10
Uneven game play 1/10
Foul mouthed American kids(underage) 1/10

and the list goes on...........

But lets face it the game is pretty, but sucks in a big way when it comes to match making.
I, as with many of my xbox reach friends (international), notice that the game is never stable. One game you get 20 kills and the following games you are lucky if you get 2. Matching making is totally fukd-up.
I don't know who is taking care of the servers, probably no-one, but it seems even worse now that bungie have just left, leaving everything in such a mess. I feel sorry for 343 because they are going to get all the aggressive messages, when they are not responsable for bungies incompetant programming.
Sorry bungie your 3D creation skills are second to non, can i suggest you stay far away from anything that requires online gameplay because you seriously have a problem for evenly macthing people based on their skills.
How come there are no servers in europe as with other FPS games. I say this because every time a match is made against people in the states, it is common knowledge in europe that the match is already lost. Unfair advantage for the states.

I would like to hear your opinions on matchmaking (lack of) and the gameplay in general.
Obviously underaged kids opinions are worthless because they should'nt even be playing the game, and most of the time they unrelated stupid comments.

I want a conversation with people who have a brain and are capable of saying more than just:
Thats the way it is

Sorry if i sound a little pissed, i meant to sound very pissed.
Because the last two day reach is actually disconnecting the xbox at the end of a game and giving me a 1000 credits which has made me loose daily challenge points. As well as that, i am forced to leave most of the games (now in 10 min ban) because of such crappy and uneven matchmaking. Lucky if each team member gets 5 kills whereas the opposition has already got 50. Running circles round us while we are trying to run, turn and shoot in glue.

The worst thing of all is that me, being the retarded idiot i am, i keep coming back to play knowing full well that the matchmaking it totally screwed.

I never ever ever lag, it's not the servers, it's you.

I kindly asked for an adult reply.

Your reaction is just ridiculous. If you had read what i wrote you would have noticed that i said its not just me, its friends and even people that are not friends on the opposing team that i don't even know.

Has anyone got something more intelligent to add?

Before opening you mouth i suggest you inform yoursef to prevent yourself from looking like a child that shouldn't be even playing the game.

I just discovered 343i website and found the answer.

Servers are the problem and in fact the problems i mentioned are already accounted for and well known by the community. In fact reach is creating a very bad reputation for itself. And everyone is complaining about the gameplay quality.

See for yourself, and please read it through instead of just the bits that you find worthy of a useless remark.

I would suggest the same OP.

Dedicated servers are all fine and dandy, but what happens when they go down, hmm? Nobody will be playing Reach. That'll kill the population quicker than the simple P2P system. Also, the servers need to be staffed constantly for routine maintainance, which by the way also includes downtimes, and funding.

What are you going on about with the 3D engine too? Honestly? The fine details in Reach are better than Halo CEA right now. Just compare the cinematics and cutscenes from CEA and Reach, then get back to me.

I wouldn't blame you for hating on Reach, but do your research at least. Yes, there's issues with Reach. There's issues with all games. Deal with it. You don't hear me going on about CoD and whats wrong with that game, do you?

"dandy" ... someones been watching to much Mary Popins.

Hate to break your bubble but reach already uses two sets of dedicated servers ... first for xbl authentication, second level for MM formation. Yes after that P2P kicks in nut until then your greatest fear is still "fine and dandy governor"

And yes the reach MM servers have gone down in the recent past.

First off, don't get me started on my verbiage. I didn't have my morning coffee and only three hours of sleep. A working man's life.

Secondly, fine, but the OP and his link is discussing the physical MM aspects of it. That's what I was commenting on. Or did you miss that part?

Kinda saw your comment as being "Dedicated servers == risk" ... as a way of justifying P2P rather than having a set of hosts able to provide a game service of a consistent quality.

Reach is suffering from its drop in player pool.
I saw the OP pain being a result of this and the inconsistent game play it brings.

I'm well aware that Reach is suffering from it's drop. But, I'm saying with dedicated servers it can be worse. Just look at what 343i is doing with the stats server.

Do you really think we can trust them with a game dedicated server if they can't maintain that server fine?

And trust me, I'm not dissing 343i in any way. I'm just trying to get my point across that there may be issues with a ded. server too.

Nope, never lagged, you not Reach.

This Soffish do not eat.

I personally haven't had these lag issues the OP mentioned - and I live in Northern Ireland. Of course, I get the odd laggy game, but by and large Matchmaking runs very smoothly for me, even though my internet speed for other things such as downloads etc. is generally below average.

It isn't our shiznit anymore.

But takes us back to where I came in ... we are already at the mercy of the stats/xbl/MM server sets. If they fail so does online MM play as well.

With the current hybrid P2P systems that is in place we are at the mercy of dedicated servers and a "Host" run off a walmart quality connection ... or a host run off dark fibre but routed through 16 countries and 64 nodes.

Either way ... would trust a commercial interest in keeping servers up over another gamer.
Dedicated servers are objectively better than P2P connections, save the cost, which is why anyone would even consider having P2P in their game.
