Subject: Favorite Halo Campaign Environment?

Which environment from any Halo game's campaign was your favorite? I personally liked the one from Delta Halo and Regret, but also thought Uprising and The Great Journey were also amazing.

What about you all? Also say why you liked each environment.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Almost every environment from Halo Reach.

Halo Reach is probably no doubt the best game out when it comes to skyboxes and backrounds.

Winter Contingency, ONI Sword Base, Nightfall, Tip of the Spear, Long Night of Solace, New Alexandria, The Package and Pillar of Autumn. They all had incredible skyboxes. I cant really choose one. Bungie really outdid themselfs.

Apart from Halo Reach, I'd have to say Sierra 117 in Halo 3, Gravemind in Halo 2 and 343 in Halo CE.

Two Betrayals in CEA. There's so soothing about traversing frozen canyons bathed in moonlight.

The most striking environment? I really don't know.

Best Skybox? New Alexandria.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I loved all of Halo 3's campaign and those environments.

And, I can't go without mentioning CE, either. Those environments were really something special.

Also, ODST's New Mombasa environment...Just roaming around Mombasa Streets. That can't go without mentioning, either.

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

All of Halo 2. That game was the most memorable game experience for me, it's what truly got me into gaming.

Aside from that, my favorite environment in any other Halo game would probably be the Ark from Halo 3.

Still using a pump-action shotgun over 500 years in the future I see.

omg not realistic stop game production plz

Halo 2 was king of vistas for me....the interior of High Charity, the environment in Uprising, the architecture of the Cairo, the gigantic wall of the Quarantine Zone, the interior of the Control Room of Delta Halo...it goes on and on.

But Halo CE and 3 had good vistas too, like Silent Cartographer in CE and The Ark/The Covenant in Halo 3. Oh and the view of Mount Killimanjaro accompanied by this simply absorbs me.

I disagree. It all looked very bland, dusty and grainy, there wan't anything that really stood out as, "oh wow, that looks stunning!".

Compare all that to, for example, New Mombasa in ODST. The stunning skyline, buildings on fire, the ambient sounds of rain and the sombre soundtrack all culminating in a fine work of art. the only part of Reach that came close to this artistic marvel was New Alexandria.

Then there's Halo 2 when you're on Installation 05 looking out at the hovering gondolas over a vast ocean with the temples and the massive Covenant ship over your head, likewise with The Covenant in Halo 3. And on High Charity where you can look out over the whole city with the light focused down on the Keyship.

Considering all this, I don't really see how one can look at Reach's skyboxes and say, "oh yeah, that's better than everything else".

I'm blue da ba di da ba dai!

Halo 2, Quarantine Zone, I think that's its name.

Absolutely agree with this. The only environments that really stood out for me, in Reach, were New Alexandria and the space skybox was pretty amazing, in Long Night of Solace (I also loved the interior of the cruiser). Practically everything else was pretty bland, and not that memorable.

Your statement of the rain in ODST made me think of CEA's rendition of 343 Guilty Spark. The audio of the downpour, mixed with the racket of the local bug life, is beautiful. The environment look great, too.

My favourite, though. I'm not sure. I do Love The Ark, both the open desert areas, and the Forerunner exterior and interiors. The Ark's control room is beautiful. There's too many to chose a number 1, if I'm honest.

Eric Hallett

This is not my favourite type of mission environment but whatever ther last mission is.
CE/CEA: The Maw-You're basically alone, It's quiet and you berely get out alive.
Halo 3: Last mission with the bare and close-call race for survival as the world behind you is falling apart (Literally!)
Halo 3 ODST: Last mission where you're racing to escape the embattled city with valuable Allies (Like the engineer, which could die at any time.)
Halo Reah: Best final mission in the Halo franchise- You keep fighting with hardly a chance for survival. You're shields go down as you can fight with whatever weapon you can find that also lacks ammo.
Covenant surround you with the courage of numbers when you will still fight.
Eventually your armor starts breaking and falling apart as the last thing you ever saw was you taking off your helmet and get maimed by the Sanghelli who survived to later regret that same year as higher hiarchy disagrees.

you are a good translator
Idiot can be a hard language to learn, but once you get it down, everything becomes so clear! The whole world will make sense to you.

Halo CEA's rendition of The Maw was gorgeous.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

The Maw... it just beautiful.

  • 11.20.2011 11:42 AM PDT

Actually, yeah. The Maw looks amazing in CEA. Not exactly the ship or its interior itself but the surrounding desert plain and ocean.

Very much so. Flicking back and forth, seeing the changes, was astonishing. I also loved the way the grav lift, in Truth and Reconciliation, illuminated the surrounding area at the base. looking at it glowing in the distance also made for a beautiful view, I thought.

Well summarized, but what about Delta Halo and Regret in Halo 2.

My honor student can beat up your honor student.

Exodus's and New Alexandria's skyboxes I found truly breathtaking. I love the modern architecture, especially when it crumbles around you in New Alexandia.

All of ODST's skyboxes were beautiful as well. I wish I could live long enough to be alive to see real life architecture like that.

I love the first ever flood experience in Halo CE, getting all lost and confused in the big forerunner building and with opened up boodied covenant and marines gone mad, deffanatly my fave.
