just looking to have fun, message me if you want to play

it would seem? What caused this to happen and will the site continue running as normal later?

  • 11.20.2011 10:51 AM PDT

chances are I don't care who you are or what you say.

nope it is gone forever unless someone bought it. It is quite sad, I was number 22 for GHCS

The Internet is an empowerment tool that's agnostic; it doesn't care about race, gender, or age.

I heard it cost a lot to run and the owner wanted to have a normal life again. In any case, it will be missed.

~HC Swat Iz Back

HaloCharts.com!

Yes here is why it is gone:

Thank you for the good times.

Dear all of HaloCharts,

I am not happy to make this announcement, but unfortunately I feel I must. After 4 years of work here on HC, I've decided that it is best for me to discontinue the site. The closing of the site comes after much thought and torment on where my priorities in life need to be. I have spent many hours on a daily basis over the last 4 years building HC and working to keep it running as smoothly as possible and to try to grow it. I believe it has succeeded far more than I ever expected it to and I'm very happy and grateful by that accomplishment. It could not have happened without the work of so many people and for that I am so thankful.

The reasons for this decision have been on my mind for quite a while. I've never put more work into something than what I have put into HaloCharts. However, over the last year, the time and energy required to keep the site afloat and smooth running have outweighed my ability to actually enjoy building it. It has become something that I can no longer maintain without seeing it affect my life, my family and my work. I suppose that through it's success as a site and a community it has turned into something that I just cannot continue to handle, even with the volunteers that have stepped up to help. It is time for me to move on.

I'm very happy with what I started and amazed by what came to be from the countless number of people that jumped in and started helping build things. I never imagined that HC would grow to be such a popular and useful site, used by hundreds of thousands of people over the last 4 years. I'm satisfied by that and feel like there's not going to ever be a good time to stop, but that if I stop now I can exit knowing that we did good here. I can exit knowing that there are still good things down the road for Halo, but they will most likely not involve me.

I'm not the kind of person that can just quit something easily. I have never been more torn about letting go than by this decision. I feel like it will completely let down so many people and I fully expect to hear a lot of disappointment, but aside from those things I fully believe it will be the best decision I can make for my own life to get back to what is more important, more enjoyable and far less stress than what should really come from a website centered around a video game. A video game I spent many many hours on and had a great time.

In terms of what is going to happen next, I'm not sure. I won't be able to keep the site running on this server as it is far too expensive to continue with. I may look into see if anybody would be interested in purchasing the site and/or domain HaloCharts.com. It won't be a super fast shutdown, but no more than a few days to a week. There have been a few donations in recent days that will get refunded.

I plan to continue with HaloSphere2 development, although I am expecting to lose a great deal of support there. HS2 is something I find to be very enjoyable without the level of stress and time requirement that HC brings into my life. I will also continue with a few of my smaller projects here and there, but ultimately this is the end of HaloCharts.com in it's current state. I have no idea what the future will bring though. I cannot thank everybody enough that has been by my side over the course of this website's existence. There are too many people to name here.

It has been one heck of a great 4 years though, with a lot of great times on the site and in Halo.

Updating the Spartan when Reach came out.

It doesn't matter, their leaderboards were full of cheaters.

HaloTracker.com, imho, is a much better site than HaloCharts. They have much more detailed stats and they are constantly updating their site.
