Subject: What was the ship that landed of 04??

Why are you here?

Seen in Terminal 5.

So what do you guys think?

Could it be Precursor related, Forerunner related, Flood related, Human, or something new?

Whatever it is, it didn't look like it wanted to be there judging from the distress call.

Mind you this takes 60,000 years before the game starts.

(I know I screwed up on the title a little)

We should know better, because we are better.

Nobody knows. At all. We just know it was not us.

All I know is that it reminds me of the large titanium mine on the firefight Unearthed map. And I don't think that's a coincidence in the slightest.

United Armed Forces

Methinks it's a new race we'll meet in H4. Our enemies, perhaps.

It was not any species we know (save PERHAPS forerunner or precurser[if timeless one was lying)

It must have come from beyond the range of the array.

...Halo 4?

It's probably either a Precursor Ship, an Ancient Human ship or a ship that belongs to a race that we don't know about yet.

I don't think it's a Precursor ship now cause I realized that Precursor ships might be stronger than that and probably wouldn't just crash and be destroyed.

Might be a new race that we will meet but I don't really know.

Precursors are 49' tall and 36' wide they wouldn't fit in a ship of that size.

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

No they aren't. We don't even know what a Precursor really looks like.

I don't think they would make a reference to another series and make it canon in the story.

Could be a small shuttle.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

We'll probably never know. It might have just been a ship that was drifting in space for thousands of years.

I really don't think this is designed to be a solved mystery and that who was in the ship doesn't matter. I think the purpose of this ship was as a plot point for Guilty Spark. For him to regret not making contact with those inside, so that as he says, next time will be different. That way when Humans and Covenant show up at the ring, there is a logical reason that the Forerunner defenses didn't just destroy everyone before they landed on the ring.

I don't know, Bioware has the planet with the beings of light on it in Mass Effect, also the Quarians and Geth are one big reference to Battle Star Galactica.

When I saw the thread title I seriously thought you meant the Pillar of Autumn... So glad you meant the one in the terminal. xD

I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. ;D

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

I think it is utterly sad how the idea of another race in the galaxy must be some uber powerful one due to the lack of races in halo lore.

The more i think about it the more i think this is just a story element for spark; seeing how there should be more races in the galaxy rather than the few we know of.

At the same time for a race to reach that level within 60,000 years is borderline impossible.

You're thinking in human terms. Larry Niven's Known Space series has a race that went from just discovering how to manipulate radio waves, to discovering Faster Then Light travel and interstellar colonization in less then two centuries. They could do that because they operated in pods, like small Hive Mind groups that had collective intelligent minds far surpassing even most human computers. To them, 60,000 years would probably allow them to reach mythical Tier V status and beyond on the Kardeshev scale.

Who's to say a race in Halo does not have similar capabilities?

United Armed Forces

Madara, I find myself agreeing with Roberto here. No race we know of has the capabilities or the knowledge for this until a couple thousand years before the events of Halo, unless the Forerunners survived, or the Timeless one was lying.

well played.

Which is why i am saying it is sad we don't see more of that in halo. I feel like this is just another race nothing that should be given too much importance until we have a reason to give it.

I could only imagine what tech level they would be on 40,000 years later..

Unless they were wiped by the flood, or civil war, or whatever, and these were refugees...

Infinite possibilites.

I think we'll be hearing more about these things in halo 4. They obviously have a meaning. 343 never puts things in just because.

Not, "just because," no, but "just because it gives Guilty Spark a reason not to order Halo's defenses to wipe out the humans and Covenant approaching it," yes. That's not necessarily the case, but it seems most likely to me.

Just a random thought, but maybe the Precursors have portals set up in other galaxies and a species from a different galaxy went through. Whatever the ship is it must be highly advanced because Installation 04 didn't pick it up on its sensors until it was about to crash.

Everything precursor would have been destroyed unless that was tech made before their peak.

And that is what i brought up awhile ago also. 343 notes "next time will be different" yet when humans and covenant arrive he was about to kill them; which makes me think another race must have came to halo/ The race that took pictures and left.
