This is not a Reach rant thread. If you are a troll then head back the way you came.
As many as you know, HaloCharts and HaloTracker have tried to implement the trueskill system of Halo 3 into Reach. I used to think it was really cool when I first noticed it. Then one day I saw this idiot I hated, talking about how he was getting his HaloCharts 50 and a few others in other playlists. I also noticed that quite a few other people have been aiming for their "Reach 50's". So I just wanted to make this so I can tell people how this works.
These are the reasons why the HC and HT 50s are NOT legit:
1. First in foremost (slightly off topic), the Halo 3 to Reach comparison. A lot of people will say that if you are a 50 in Reach then you are just as good in Halo 3. A normal human should understand that Reach and Halo 3 are two completely different games. Reach is extremely easy to control maps and modify game play unjustly (AAs). Halo 3 involved extensive strategy into how each map was controlled and how every weapon was used. AAs made a way to do it easier. Jet Pack gets to places you couldn't normally get to. Sprint gets you to certain places faster, which allows to use more space faster, as you had to plan how you used space in Halo 3. Armor lock is pretty obvious, hologram was simple, evade was unbelievably broken, etc. Even if you are playing an Anniversary or a Pro game type, then there is the game physics. Scope and reticle also have a very noticeable difference in both games. Reach is extremely easy and Halo 3 was fairly difficult.
2. Ways to break and cheat the system are much more simpler then they seem. For example, I am a Legend in Reach. I play with players that are slightly below/above, way higher, or the same. If I or my team wins the game fair and square, then that is a rank up on my part. But if I am not winning games then there is a way to get around to winning. All you have to do is find a player that has a lower rank then you (for Rumble Pit, it is best to get a low rank, for TS or any team games, get a rank that is good, but isn't very much lower then you). This attracts other players of lower ranks and less skill. This gets more wins, therefore, easier to rank up.
3. You can't rank down easily. Even if you do, it isn't very significant. All you really have to do is play. The more games you win, the faster you will rank up. The less, you won't. But it isn't like Halo 3 where if you lost 10 games in a row, you would go down 5-8 levels. I went on a huge loose streak in Rumble Pit and my HC 50 didn't get touched. HT has a little more of an accurate system, but it still is tricky to get your rank down.
4. They are online systems on a stats websites. Chances are that there are going to be more flaws then if the system was perfected and built into the game itself. Is it worth following the systems? Its up to you. But in my opinion, no. If you are going to follow one system, I recommend the HT site.
5. You have no idea and no control on who you will be matched against. In Halo 3, you will be paired up with other 50s or ranks closer to them. In Reach you could end up with an Inheritor in one game, or a Recruit who has never played a game of Reach and his girlfriend as a guest.
The TL,DR version:
1. Halo 3 50 =/= Halo: Reach 50.
2. There are ways to cheat the system.
3. Can't rank down.
4. It isn't perfect.
5. Random player match ups.
