I want my elephant back.
Give it to me now!
(Please?)

Me.

lol

2,000,000 played the beta.
40,000 play the full game.

Fraction of people who play now by the number of people in the Beta?
40,000/2,000,000

Lets take away the four 0's.
4/200

200 divided by 4 = 50

1/50

ONly 1 out of every 50 people transitioned from the Beta to the full game.

2,000,000 played beta and way over 40,000 played full game actually over 2,000,000 played the full game and the beta.

The numbers are low but with three COD games still big on the onlne network you can expect every other game not just Halo to have a not so good population.

  • 11.21.2011 10:33 AM PDT

lol thats 40000 after over a year

And straight after several massive games being released.

  • 11.21.2011 11:21 AM PDT

The thing is, this amount of time into MW3's life the population will still be very high. Halo 3 was hugely popular, even after two years. Reach was, in my opinion, too different to the previous Halo titles. We all like innovation and new ideas, but Bungie went a tad too far.

Including CEA, which SHOULD have brought the numbers up.

CEA will bring it up, maybe.

Two things. First off, Reach has had 380k unique players in the last 24 hours. You're most likely looking at the people online AT THE MOMENT.

Secondly... funny how that has happened to every single game ever, huh? Man it looks like EVERY game ever is bad!

  • 11.21.2011 12:32 PM PDT

I dont think it really has to do with Halo being a bad game. COD just competely took over the market. When i ask a lot of guys playing battlfield or cod what they think of halo they just answer i dont like the sci fi aspect or they dont like a game with power weapons. Halo is a lot different then whats selling and honestly thats a really good thing.

R.I.P. Halo 2 <33333333
Do not play halo much anymore. Barely ever come on here.

Number of People who like COD > Number of People who like Halo.

-Reach is not Halo. A good game, yes, but not Halo. -Zomechin

While that is still a great number, it had dropped from approximately 100.000.0(prior to Gears of Wars release).

Inheritor #156 :p

So the beta had 2,000,000 players on at the same time?

Reach sold 3.3 million copies in the first month it was out, so over 3 million people played Reach in the first month.. More people bought the game than played the beta.

Try to troll harder next time and bring actual #s to back your statement.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

Halo 3 was going back and forth with one of them until lolrreach came out.

This. Not everyone is playing it at the moment you look at the numbers. Your sixth grade logic is flawed.

Reach fails as a game.

Get jealous.

380k in 24 hours is still pretty bad. Hell, lolreach has barely had 600k at least since June.

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

Halo 3 had more people playing in the past few weeks before Reach than Reach has playing now. (IE 3 years into 3's life vs just over 1 into Reach's life). Let's face it, the majority has spoken and they said no to Reach. The challenge will be for 343 to overcome Reach's failure. There's a certain factor for Halo that makes it better than the other games. Call it the "screw around" factor or whatever, but people like to make the game more than just shooting an opponent.

For TL;DR's, Halo was new, now its not. CoD, BF, Gears, etc. are newer, so people like them more.

The fact of the matter is, the general fad has shifted from sci-fi to moder day combat. Halo took over so well because not a single console based game was even remotely close to how advanced it was at the time. The only other games out at that time were half life and its affiliates.

Halo also had done something no other FPS had ever done. It introduced face passed combat and simplicity all at once. 1 button for the gun, 1 for grenades, and 1 to switch between only 2 guns. This makes for extreamly quick and simple combat. Other games like counterstrike and golden eye you had to swap between multiple weapons and grenades all on 1 list. Halo was different. You could throw grenades easily with the push of a button w/o having to cycle through a list back to your gun. This was (imo) what made people love it so much at first. This new system spawned a new way to speed up FPS. Look at CoD and BF.

Now that technology and graphics have enhanced, games like CoD and BF have taken what halo introduced and introduced them into modern combat. Odviously other factors play into it but subtle detail is what started everything. CoD and BF just added on to it by now makeing the environment even faster to match combat speed and now gives rise to a far more chaotic situation then halo ever dreamed of. This adds to realism and makes you feel more like you're really there. Halo sevearly lacks the impact that these previous examples provide and therefor now falls short as is now odvious by current attendance on playlists.

This is my personal opinion based on how i remember my first introduction to the game and how i felt when i first played it.
