I have to respectfully disagree with a couple of Lord of Verxes' Sniper tips, even though he is a better overall Halo player than I am. I have more than twice as many Be the Bullet medals in less games though, and those are all with random teammates.
1. & 2.) I find that being in the most dominant position is more useful than changing up where you are. For instance, if you get up on the back cliff in Hemorrhage, you can see the entire map and if you know the typical spots the other side will snipe from (the rocks, the back hill, the side of the cave entrance), you can effectively control the entire map. You can hug up against the back corner and just check the teleport spot for the sniper, than move up a little more and check their hill. Then you jetpack up to the the cliff, check the teleport and hill again, then check the side of the cliff. That way you don't expose yourself to sniper fire while effectively controlling the half the map.
4.) Helping your team is good, but the most important thing is always be trying to know where their sniper is, and also knowing if their team is waiting for it to spawn or not. If you kill their sniper, keep your focus on their sniper rifle laying on the ground and DO NOT LET THEM PICK IT UP AGAIN. This is for the benefit of your entire team, because if you are sniping and the other team isn't, than your team has a huge advantage.
My other tips are:
A.) If you have one bullet left, head back to the sniper spawn. When you get to the spawn point, wait for your teammates to be far away. You can shoot the last bullet and pick up a new weapon, which will make the sniper respawn immediately or at least very soon. That is how you can get on big kill streaks with it.
B.) Don't be afraid to use your DMR to finish off people that you missed the headshot on, it will keep you sniping longer.
C.) If you pick up the Sniper, never run to the front of the battle. Always stay back. That way, if you die, at least the other team won't get the sniper. Also, it makes you focus on sniping instead of just random combat. If you take the sniper and run up, you are really hurting your team. NEVER do that.
D.) Playing on team snipers has nothing to do with sniping in a regular game. It is focused on hiding more than controlling the map. It's apples an oranges, because on a real game, you expose yourself more because there is not as much risk as being sniped. So don't play that map type.
E.) Come out of scope a lot, so you can make sure nobody is sneaking up on you.
