No, this is HTML. BBCode is simpler. Don't worry about it, because:
1. OP is halfway through the W3Schools tutorial and thinks he's a smartass.
2. You can't say "your HTML is terrible". That doesn't make sense.
3. Nowhere, anywhere at all, has the OP mentioned anything related to CSS. I hardly doubt he knows what it stands for without the use of Google, and I think he just threw that in the title to sound smart.
4. No. There is BBCode to change the style/color of text, and it was on Bnet at one point. It was removed.
TL;DR: OP is trying to look cool. There is BBCode for almost all of this, or it can be done manually.
@OP: Your ignorance has managed to both amuse and frustrate me at the same time.
EDIT: Rereading the original post, I have reached the conclusion that the OP is actually stupid beyond my original analysis. "<sarcasm>" and things like that are not HTML tags. Those would be XML tags, and we can't use those.
OP is a total dumbass.
1. I am not halfway through that tutorial. I'm finished.
2. It does make sense. The reply didn't correctly end the tag.
3. I did mention CSS. The colored font is an example. I already knew CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheet far before I learned it.
4. Because of the color changing BBCode was removed it should be re-added using HTML.
TL;DR: This guy is an idiot who is trying to make everyone to think he's smarter.
I never said <sarcasm> was an HTML tag. I said it should BECOME and HTML tag. Although rethinking you can't make HTML tags. Only XML can make custom tags.
Also, please lock this thread. I don't see any more discussion value in this.
