:)

As you may or may not of noticed, a lot of overflow from the Halo forums has spilled over into the Universe forum since Bungie 'hid' the direct link to the Reach forum.

Out of all the threads on the first page, 9/25 are off topic - Which is a pretty substantial number in a slow moving forum.

I think that the moderators need to pay a little more attention to the Universe forum. Some off topic threads can be left on the first page for hours, and in some cases, days. While this can be ignored quite easily, when the new members see these threads, they proceed to make their own - a kind of snowball effect if you will.

It's just annoying to click on a thread thinking it's going to be relevant, and finding out it's about getting achievements or something ridiculous (An example would be that on the first page now, there is a thread titled 'Help'. I clicked on it hoping there was real canon conversation going on, but it was just some guy asking about his Halo CEA achievements).

Guess they should restore the game forums to appear in the drop-down menu.

PEANUT-BUTTER SLAP!

I wouldn't say the Halo forums are hidden, it's more like they've been demoted.
I do agree, though that the ninjas could spare to take a gander at the place every once in a while. There have been obvious troll threads that live for days.

This. They will always flood in, no matter how many times you tell someone.

True, but it would be nice if the box above the post said something along the lines of "Go to Halo Waypoint for gameplay questions" or something along those lines.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

Moderation in the Universe has always been slow in coming, it's a fact of Bungie.net you have to deal with if you frequent the forum. Every now and again someone will make a thread about it, I have a few times, or PM a mod and the Universe will go through a day or two where the threads are locked quickly and people are discouraged. But it always falls back into the lull.

Then there is the fact that no one ever just reports and moves on in the Universe which just encourages the off topic threads. If the off topic threads were reported and ended up in the queue they would be locked. It's a problem with the user base as much as it is a lack of moderation.

There's really nothing to be done about it. It's not a fast moving forum so I can see why the Mods don't pay as much attention to it. And the users feel the need to say "wrong forum moron" rather than just reporting and moving on.

And as always, SEND ME A PM. Please. Or really bad things will happen to you.

There's a Universe forum?

You can see why it doesn't get much attention from the moderators from the implications of the question above.

Also its much easier to get an answer over there and be told to go somewhere else than to go to the flood.

So what you're saying is you blatantly disregard the rules of the forum so you can get an answer more quickly?

Jack of all trades, master of none.

Just report them and tell them to go to another forum. If you answer anyway, they wont learn.

We need to do more than just be able to report and say it's off-topic.

I also don't like how some of the best universe topics have been buried by this spam.

I was so surprised when I logged in for the first time in months to find the universe being flooded. It used to be one of those untouchable forums like the community forum.

Nope not me but i think it is why some people do it. Or because they are new. Most are just mistakes of people who do not know where to go and are new here

You would be surprised to know how many people have openly admitted they know it's the wrong forum and they just don't care.

Hi there! be sure to click that homepage link!

It's REALLY annoying, although, they hid the reach forum link because they don't own halo anymore, and direct link shouldn't really be there.

Although maybe one of the problems is that bungie is just more appealing than waypoint and people are just new.

Overall there should be a halo forum where people can bemoved out and for people to moce slowly to waypoint

@Geegs30

A slow forum means things are slow to get reported. Really not much we can do besides keep reporting the off-topic stuff and sending people the right places. The Universe forum is its own little niche so I can understand why mods may not be that interested in going there much.

  • 11.23.2011 1:47 AM PDT

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

I agree fully. Maybe there's some reason why they're not doing this, and we're unaware of it, but Bungie, if at all possible, please make the Halo forums seeable to anyone ignorant of their existence.

Or maybe just a news article reminding everyone in response to threads like this that they should look twice in the forum they're posting in before submitting.

I think the reason nobody's doing very much about it is because whatever the next site update is going to be will totally make any of our current complaints redundant.

Achronos goes on enough about "noise", and I'm pretty sure this is exactly what he's talking about. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think it's something to care about.

you know what must be done is just report them and if one of the reply already has told them to go somewhere else please do not add another reply to it.

This is true. I do think it has increased some since the Halo forums were hidden. I think part of it is that the Universe forum is the first on on the drop down list.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

To be Fair, the Universe forum is for Bungie's game (the history, etc), Halo was made by Bungie.
