We are determined that before the sun sets on this terrible struggle our flag will be recognized throughout the world as a symbol of freedom on the one hand and of overwhelming force on the other.

They definitely have better commanders than the Covenant, for doing so well with what little they have.

I'd have to say Cole or Keyes.

Whitcomb was an idiot.

I'd give it to Cole.

Keyes was great, but he was no Cole.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

From what we know, it would no doubt be Cole.

But who knows what Keyes could have done had he been in the place of Cole.

Admiral Cole, easily. Keyes was good at commanding his one ship; Cole commanded an entire fleet and kept the Covenant at bay for decades, as well as reinventing space combat during the insurrection.

It would have to be Cole.

Cole was a mastermind of Fleet tactics and managing, while Keys was a master of single ship maneuvers and tactics. It would have been something if the two had ever worked together.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

I think anyone with coup knows my stance on this.

Actually there was a saying that there were many other people who could have done better than them but as they never got the chance to i would have to say Cole.

Waypoint Moderators aren't really Moderators, just power hungry and its goal is defend their beloved Halo at all costs. (Meaning that they wank Halo too much.)

BS Angel is alleged foe so, be wary of Waypoint and its moderators! Do not attempt to move to Waypoint. Enter your own risk.

*WARNING* IT IS MY OPINION.

Cole J. Preston. He is great tactic and commander of entire fleets numbering from 40 ships to 162 warships. He always won the battle against the Covenant with moderate to heavy casualties. He kept Covenant at bay until 2543. After that, he went missing or likely dead.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

Ok, so what was the point of making a thread when everybody with common sense would clearly see cole was better?

All keys has is the "keyes loop" but the last trick cole pulled dwarfs that and is the recklessness i would employ daily.

Me too. Get out of bed, get a shower, brush my teeth, grab some breakfast, get dressed, out the house and make a brown dwarf go thermonuclear.

I was commenting on cole's thinking and it was a gas giant.

If only it was that easy, story teller.

"It's not about the languages you know, but the concepts that reside within all of them.

Of course, as everyone else, Cole. Sorry Keyes.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Cole knew what needed to be done.

Like if he didn't implement the Cole protical, the covenant our of found Earth VERY quickly and Humanity would of been very unprepared.

I r guy who gun to teach u lesson

Cole. He can command at a much larger scale. And the Cole Protocol Saved Humanity.

Though Keyes can keep a secret, so I can see him being valuable for secret operations(which normally have small crews and one ship).

Come to think of it though, Keys was never afraid to get his hands dirty. He was out in battle a lot on Halo. But still, goes to Cole.

  • 11.23.2011 9:12 PM PDT

Cole.

Hands down. He's the only one in the UNSC who could stand a (small) change in a a fleet-to-fleet combat situation and win (at great cost, but great for morale non the less).

Keyes was great, but he didn't achieve what Cole did. Sure: he had his moments, like the Keyes Loop etc. And ultimately he played a more important role than Cole did (by taking Chief, Cortana and Johnson off of Reach. The three who would then lead Humanity to "victory"), but Cole was a better Naval Commander.

And we don't know that much about the others. Whitcomb wasn't that amazing I guess. Captain Cutter was just good too. And the rest pretty much is anonymous so we can't say that much about them.

Some would say that anyone with the same amount of assets Cole had, could have gotten the job done.

Some of them maybe right.
