Subject: Statute of Limitations on Bans?

@spaboolly

I was browsing the Flood earlier (poor judgment, I know) and happened to see this.

It got me thinking about whether you could actually get banned that way. *Note: please refrain from discussing the ninjas, their motivations, how you feel about them, etc. That is not the topic here.

So here is the topic. I checked over the rules and didn't see any mention of it. So is there any kind of limit (even an unwritten one) on how old an offense can or should be when you are banned for it?

If there is a possibility of getting banned for something you did weeks or months ago, do you think that's fair? And if there isn't a statute of limitations on bans, do you think there should be?

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

There's already an effective 2 week statute of limitations on reporting.

cars, girls & cake all day everyday

I generally saw this as a hint that offenses older than two weeks wouldn't be at risk, as the thread they're in would likely be far from the front pages anyway. But it never really mattered to me...hell, this account isn't even my earliest. (but no one can prove that except me...)

Yes, actually you can be banned if a thread gets necrobumped and a post you made was an offense. While it's unlikely to happen, it does happen. I highly doubt a ninja will go out of their way to ''get'' you.

You can only report someone 2 weeks after their post has been made.

Yeah man, employees hardly ever post there so we never have people to suck up to. It's totally lame.
