Subject: Griffball goons: What's the right move?

So last night, I run into a pack of Griffball goons who were not interested in winning the game. They just herded our team back to our spawn points, camped out in a semi-circle, and pounded away at us before we could move. Not sure why that was fun for them, but there it is. The sad thing is you go into their gaming histories and they have a wall full of wins - probably most of which were due to the other team completely quitting.

Anyway, three of my team quit right away but I decided to tough it out to try to figure a way to take as many of them with me as I could (I did manage to complete a couple of challenges in the process). I can be stubborn that way.

So here are my questions:

(1) Is there any way to report the players/rate them poorly?

(2) I stayed in the game out of concern for quit bans and a refusal to be bullied out of the game, but ended up taking a hit in my BPR after being killed over 200 times. How do quit bans work and should I have risked the ban to avoid the waste of time and the downgrade of my BPR? Thoughts?

Answer to 1: Create a site or Facebook page and list their gamertags and what they do that affects other players fun. And Avoid the players.

Answer to 2. You're can quit 5 times (Correct me if i'm wrong) Them you'll get a quit warning and be in probation period for several games in a row. I don't know how many games in a row to have your probation lifted.
If you get booted or quit again in probation you won't be able to play for 10 mins every time you get booted, quit (Including lagging out or dashboarding)
I would quit if these punks were doing that to me. I don't mind being spawnkilled in BTB or any other playlists but Griffball since there is only 4 respawns and 3 players can stand on 3 respawns while other can stand in front or behind the 4th spawn and get bunch of kills.

  • gamertag: [none]
  • user homepage:

Not sure what BPR is, but you definitely should have just quit. You won't get put on ban probation until you quit three games in a relatively short amount of time. If you quit while you are on probation, it's a ten minute wait before you can play MM again.

Also, lolgrifball.

It's the punishment you face for playing such a retarded playlist.

Spawn killing is the only way to play griffball.

The answer was to dashboard...

If you dashboard instead of "leaving" the game you do not accumulate quits towards the quit ban.

@I can't be banned - Thanks. Yeah - no spellcheck on Grifball. lol[/quote]He was referring to how Grifball is such a terrible and laughable gametype.

@X El BaZzA X - ?????Could I make it any clearer? Being spawnkilled is what you deserve if you choose to play that retarded connection based gametype.

On top of that Grifball kills are decided by network conditions. How often have you been killed or even killed someone in Grifball when the proximity of the killed was not very relative to the killer?

Don't play Grifball.

@DarQslide - Okay. Interesting. Next question (maybe a dumb one), once the game has started, how does one quit to dashboard? Is that an option from the "Start" menu?

Um you hit the lit up big circle with a green x, which stands for XBOX I imagine, and then hit the Y button then confirm your choice to leave the session.

You have to start Reach back up but whoopdeedoo, what is another 30 seconds or so compared to the possible ten minutes of a quit ban.

@DarQslide - Thanks. Knew it was a dumb question. Not enough coffee yet this AM.

So - still learning here - how does the connection based system for Grifball differ from something like Slayer?

Slayer takes more time to kill someone and more aiming ability. In Grifball killing someone is very easy and aiming required is very low, and as neither player can outskill each other due to a lack of ranged weapons, they both have to just run at each other and see whos swing registers first. Better connection wins.

@X El BaZzA X - Thanks for the follow up. Understood and I agree. Not much skill required. Can see how a faster connection tips the scales more in Grifball. Sometimes good for a laugh, though (IMHO) - but you're right, I don't expect my skills to improve with Grifball.

Personally I can't stand Grifball because my connection is a measly 0.3Mb upload speed and I can't get a single kill, it's only any good when you're host or the host lives next door
