Subject: A book about NOBLE team

Shouldn't there be a book about NOBLE team? any ideas?

No. They've fulfilled their role in the story, we don't need a book on these frankly awful characters.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

If a game on them was bad (in which some retards think the games are the best of everything) then a book isn't going to help.

And if a book is needed to help your are only proving that the game was bad.

  • 11.26.2011 10:38 AM PDT

Wouldn't say make a book to help 'noble team' or the game.

But something to detail more of the other missions S3's got placed on/more information about the rebels/other areas of the Covenant war would be interesting.

Going by the game's depiction of the Chief, he is a really one dimensional character. If it wasn't for the books I wouldn't care about any of the characters. I'm just saying a good book could do wonders.

I agree the games don't depict the Chief in the best way, but they do hint at an underlying humanity that adds some dimensions to him, and frankly, makes him quite interesting.

  • 11.26.2011 11:41 AM PDT

Yeah, there are some things I would like to know about the characters. Maybe what they did to get recruited, or why Emile carved the skull on his visor. I remember posting something similar in the Reach forum, but most people only commented on (Because I had it as a possibility) how that one commercial for Reach (Deliver hope I think) told the story of Kat losing her arm.

  • 11.26.2011 11:44 AM PDT

I'd like one, Fist full of arrows gives you small details on them and such and quite frankly, I found it interesting how Emile got his skull that way.

I just want to see why Jorge joined Noble team and such.

I disagree completley, this could be very interesting as long as they, and by they I mean 343 unfortunately, give it to Nylund to write.

  • 11.26.2011 12:02 PM PDT

I don't really think it's that necessary. A Fistfull of Arrows gives a little more background but, honestly, I don't think their story needs to be told in great detail. The part that was important was in Reach.

That's completely different though. John is the centre of the Halo universe, the main story revolves around him and therefore a series of novels where he is detailed makes sense. Noble Team are minor characters at best, they have their moment at Reach but otherwise there's nothing much to them, there's no need to include this kind of pointless filler. It's not going to make them any better when I play the game, it's not going to make me like them, they're best left alone.

Not to mention that it's a much more enjoyable job for the writer to explore and develop a single important one-dimensional protagonist than six one-dimensional sterile generic archetypal characters who don't actually matter.

No. For the love of reality, just no! The current and original Blue team was infinitely more interesting than Noble team. They did their thang, and thats the end of it.

I dont think so, but in all honesty, i wouldnt mind if it was added. The first half was badass anyway. The ending was a little meh.

What about NOBLE 6? His past as a hyper-lethal vector. i wouldn't mind reading about that.

Seriously, bro. I mean no offense to you whatsoever, but if I hear the tearm hyper-lethal tossed around one more time, I swear I will reach down whatever hole Bungie is hiding in, pull the REACH dev team out by their ankles (because you know theyre tucked in head first), and shove them down m dogs throat. When they first used that in that silly ViDoc, I cringed. Hard!

Get your head out of your ass. You can provide hard hitting criticism for Glasslands and have proven to be very smart ajw, but seriously? You think the entire book would just be that?

Pathetic.

Because the Halo novels are so full of deep symbolism and themes, right? What else would go into it? Spartan training? Like we've not already seen that for 2 books, the rest would literally be some guy saying, "right Spartan, I want you to kill this guy."

I do not appreciate the way you went about sounding like a complete bastard there, you know as well as I do that a book about Six would be abysmal.

Since I don't have psychic powers, no I don't know that a book about Six would be abysmal. Considering Six isn't like every other S-III and was essentially a hitman for some high up at ONI, who knows where he went. We know he broke up rebel groups. How? Did he go guns blazing? Did he infiltrate and break it from within? What about his involvement with the Sabre program?

Spare me your BS.

Bullshyte. Six displays nothing that makes him stand out other than this "hyper lethal vector" crap we keep being told.

and was essentially a hitman for some high up at ONI, who knows where he went.

Oh great, how exciting. Some guy hired some Spartan to kill some guys because he was good at killing, great premise for a novel.

We know he broke up rebel groups. How? Did he go guns blazing? Did he infiltrate and break it from within? What about his involvement with the Sabre program?

See, you argue against me saying that the book would be all about Six fighting people, then you go ahead and support my point right there by using examples where he'd just go in to fight people.

Ooh, so he helped make some spaceships we see once and have no real significance at all. This book sounds better by the second!

What kind of tension would there be if he infiltrates a Rebel base and doesn't get spotted? Even if he is and gets into a fight, we know nothing bad is going to happen to him so it's ultimately a waste of time for the writer and readers to go on for pages and pages about boring action fight scenes. That's not what a book is about, that's what video games and movies are for.

Spare me your BS.

Pretty clear that I'm not spouting anything of the sort, I'm not the one who needs to get my head out of my arse.

Derp, I guess that's why a book would be nice to have so that isn't the case.

Oh great, how exciting. Some guy hired some Spartan to kill some guys because he was good at killing, great premise for a novel.

Or you know, as his origin story. Just because there will inevitably be killing doesn't mean it has to be all that. What else influences Six? But hey, I guess we'll never get the chance because apparently nobody should get a chance.

See, you argue against me saying that the book would be all about Six fighting people, then you go ahead and support my point right there by using examples where he'd just go in to fight people.

True, but that doesn't mean the book has to be all that.

What kind of tension would there be if he infiltrates a Rebel base and doesn't get spotted?

Depends if he has a squad or not. We simply don't know because, guess what, we have no information, but you'd be fine with that.

Even if he is and gets into a fight, we know nothing bad is going to happen to him so it's ultimately a waste of time for the writer and readers to go on for pages and pages about boring action fight scenes.

You mean like very other book with Chief?

Pretty clear that I'm not spouting anything of the sort, I'm not the one who needs to get my head out of my arse.

Meanwhile you shoot down any idea and call people fanboys.
