i always hear people talking about "who has rcon"... i know that rcon is short for remote control, but i have no idea...:

-what it is...
-what it does...
-how do i get it...

i am VERY new at Halo PC and all these computer functions and terms, but i want to know so i can be as great as you guys...

rcon stands for remote console. It is how you control a dedicated server, changing maps kicking banning etc. You have to know the rcon password in order to use it.

if i start a server do i automaticaly have it???

...like go to multiplayer and create a internet game???

Yes when you start it on your machine you automatically have console powers. rcon is for administering a machine you are not on.

You have to put -console in the Halo target.Basically if the Halo icon is on your desktop or wherever, right click on it and click properties then at the end of the target put -console in.Then press the ¬ key (but dont hold shift and press it to get ¬, just press it) then you can ban or kick players etc etc.

iggwilv, do i need to buy a server/rent it, or can i do it for free...
and whats your name (forgot it), I ALREADY KNOW HOW TO OPEN THE ****IN CONSOLE!!! but whats the command i type in to boot people and stuff???

You can run a server from your computer but home internet connections don't have enough upload speed to support very many players. A good cable connection usually can support 4-5 before the lag gets to be unbearable.

If you rent one from a gameserver company they will supply enough bandwidth to run up to 16 players. The cheapest I've seen is clanservers.com that rent for $2/slot/month. So if you want a 16-person server it would be $36/month

Type "halo console commands" into Google and should take you to a command list that someone made up.

ummm... i cant afford that... and i have MULTIPLE conections (in the house) to a linksys router

i ask cause it sucks to not have anyone on your server...
oh and can anyone give me instructions on how to start a server please? now that thats out of the way, i would like to get focused on server starting
