Sometimes I'd just like to ban a user so completely that they won't even be able to view my group. Any chance of this ever being implemented.

Absolutely not.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

You could kick them from the group and make it approval only.

  • 11.26.2011 3:46 PM PDT

Nope. One of the admins of the group can ban them for years but that's only after they have been in the group.

You can remove the user from the group, change the group to Closed (Requires Approval), and make content available to members only.

If you would like to keep the group open, blacklist the user, restrict the permissions of the default member role, and make content available to certain security roles.

There is no perma ban button? I like the idea, but is there really a member of your group that bothers you that much?

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

There is a permanent ban option, if I'm not mistaken, but I think the OP wants the option of blocking even the home page.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

To which I'd have to ask the OP what practical benefit this would bring. Salving a desire for revenge is defined in this context as not being practical.

Agreed. There is no use for blocking the homescreen besides just to bother the person. Permabans or removing someone from the group is good enough.

The Gunman Division: Ace Gunman, xOmega Gunmanx, JT Gunman, xLost Gunmanx, (Op) Lone Gunman, Spade Gunman, Viper Gunman, Ysuran Gunman, BlindfireGunman, Angel, briskit1, dinjitsu2222, and Onobono. No idiots, please!

Ultra bans should be left to the Webteam to hand out, something like what was suggested in the OP could be dangerous and unneeded.

This is all you can do. Then, carefully observe how old the accounts are from those seeking approval.

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

We miss you Logan.
Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

Well when I had a problem in my group I just removed the user ,and permanently banned him. I still left it open.

  • 11.26.2011 9:29 PM PDT

How about a blacklist option that prevents a user from joining, even if it's set to open?

  • 11.26.2011 9:31 PM PDT

The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

As you waste your breath complaining about life, Someone out there is breathing their last. Appreciate what you have.

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.

This is something i want. I don't like having to close the group up.

Thats kind of mean as you are singling people out. Not something i will agree with. If it is open then open. If they make problems then ban.

  • 11.26.2011 9:52 PM PDT

Nah, you can ban them without them being in the group if you know how to. :)

You can always kick them out of the Group.

I believe it also has to do with viewing people in the group, news stories, etc.

  • 11.27.2011 2:53 PM PDT

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

0x0 x0x 0x0 000 000 x0x 000
x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

You could permanently ban them and give them a special title with no permissions.

Alts are a major problem in groups. Even if you ultrabanned whatever chump was giving you problems, he'd be right back in with an alt the next day, whether your membership was closed or not.

The only effective way to keep people out successfully is to be very exclusive in accepting members while using a closed membership. Even then, it's exceptionally difficult.

I'd love Achronos with all of my heart if he could find some way to rid the site of alts or at the very least give an IP option to group admins.
