He who cannot command himself should obey. And many can command themselves, but much is still lacking before they can obey themselves.

That is only because you're pointing out that the casuals DO IN FACT out-number you.

Still doesn't mean that this game was catered to casuals.

OMG they have a casual playlist available and there are more people playing it than arena.... THIS GAME WAS MADE FOR CASUALS.

Really?

Or is it, most casuals stay away from Arena, because they don't feel like playing against the Try-Hards....and so all the try-hards follow the casuals into their playlist instead.

Face it, most of you would rather play against a person you can spawn -blam!-, than someone who will spawn -blam!- you.

Are you serious with this post? You just out-argued yourself!

Case in point: How is it possible that casuals outnumber the "tryhards" in a game that was catered to "tryhards"?

I'd much rather play against competent players in a competitive playlist than play against some casual that can't remember when rockets respawn next. I had far more Ranked games in Halo 3 and Halo 2 than Social. I was hoping Reach would be similar. Sigh... but it wasn't...

See you just proved it. Your whole argument is the lack of the 1-50 system.
Yep, you are completely retarded. Confirmed. As if we needed it.

343 claiming Halo "going back to its roots" is a downright lie. They can't even get this TU right. ZB with no adjustment to player speed and jump height? Nothing changes with nades? Which "roots" are they talking about? They seem clueless so far...

I'd consider bashing 343i after they release a product they made themselves.

Sure the TU might not be perfect but quite frankly, it's a long road, but it's a step in the right direction.

Fair enough.

Now let's all dance around with beers in our hands around the campfire.

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

I don't tend to really care what the hell happens with the game now and what other players prefer. I still enjoy Reach, like I did the other Halos.

Should Reach have catered more to the competitive side? I'd probably just attempt to "better" the match-up system (i.e. who you are with, and who you play against) in gametypes such as BTB or Team Slayer, such that people can get a more competitive experience.

I'm not the competitive type of player. But I think everyone likes to have close games and challenges in matchmaking.

Nope. SouthPole isn't a person. He's the avatar of the force of tryhards everywhere. He stalks the web looking for retards to set straight. He can not be stopped by mere bans or thread locks for he shall rise anew.

Posted by: MR E0S

Your ignorance is astounding. It really is. How you can convince yourself of these things is amazing. It takes a "special" mind to do that.

Reach was made for the casuals. FACT

Slow Movement
Low Jump Height
Armor Lock
Bloom
Credits System
Grenades

You're retarded. The quit ban was put into place because of kids like you who claim that they only lost because of the one guy on his team who quit.

Guess what, it's actually because you suck.

Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

Casual = Solo player
Try-hards = Stacked teams

Voting system = Caters to stacked teams, because they win the vote.

Quit ban = Goes after solo players, because stacked teams don't quit on each other.

What part of that don't you get?

Tell me again why a casual would prefer a quit ban over join-in-progress?

Which half of this community absolutely refuses the idea of join-in-progress?

Slow movement, caters to try-hards because try-hards overcome it with teamwork

Low Jump Height...doesn't belong in this argument.

Armor Lock, works really well in a team oriented game.
You think Armor Lock caters to casuals? Have you ever seen a stacked team using it religiously? Right.
Scenario for Armor Lock users. Casual team vs Competitive team:
Casual guy goes into armor lock, gets surrounded. Dies after it wears off
Try-Hard goes into Armor Lock, his team-mates come by to bail him out.

Bloom, is overcome by teamwork and team shooting.
Who does bloom hurt more? The solo player that is shooting at someone by himself, or the guy who has a team that does back him up and teamshoots?

Credit system doesn't belong in this argument.

Grenades, give everyone the same benefit as the next person.
You bring it up as though try-hards don't throw grenades or something.

Why is the competitive community a joke? Please, enlighten us.

I dunno maybe the amount of 1vs1 challenges I seem to get, maybe the fact people seem to think any point can be disproved by a 1vs1 even if that fact is that the person ragequit a match because they can't take losing.
Maybe the egotistical I'm better than you approach most of the community give off without any real reason, maybe the fact pre match hearing so called "pro" teams talking about stats for the players on the other team, Maybe the fact the desire of most teams seems to be to vs bots than run around and don't shoot back but add to their K/D ratios, maybe the great joy "pros" seem to take is spawn camping a team even on stuff like action sack.
Maybe its even the amount of moaning and calls for everything and anything to be removed from the game, maybe its the fact unless its the sniper to the pro community any weapon they get killed by is a noob weapon, maybe the fact anyone who kills a so called pro must be a noob using noob tricks to beat them rather than facing the fact said "pros" are markedly average at best.
Maybe its something to do with the pompous nature of so many "pro" members who will happily claim they are better than you because;

"I've played in an MLG tournament" yes well done you filled a form in and paid an entrance fee that shows such skill there.

"I work in the industry as a coder" wow good for you you can understand C++ doesn't really do much in the context of the game though does it ?

"I'm paid to do this" yes that's why you're threatening to sue me for loss of earnings because you just lost, maybe if you were so "pro" you wouldn't have lost to me because I'm crap.

but yeh I have no idea why a community where most of its members behave like self entitled divas who think their name alone should give them the win would get such ridicule ?

Bloom...what a joke. To think that, you think bloom caters to casuals.. HAHAHAH what a joke!

  • 11.27.2011 7:48 AM PDT

Bloom is mostly random. Although some people are better than using it than others, it doesn;t reward accuracy. A more skilled player will be able to hit the opponent without a random variable. You can get lucky when the bloom is full and hit shots that you shouldn;t get.

strange that's how I'd describe most of the "pro" community, seems to fit better as they are obsessed with numbers almost to an extreme fixation.

You're literally stupid.

The fact that you see everyone in a party as a competitive player is beyond ridiculous.

Teamshooting or not, bloom is still broken and it caters to casuals.

It caters to you retards who couldn't keep up with us in Halo 1, 2, and 3. We have to slow down for your thumbless ass, and you have the audacity to say that it was put in the game for us? You're retarded. This argument is over.

If we didn't, he would never learn.
I see now that he is never going to learn. He can stay in his imaginary world. It's not like Bungie is in charge anymore. 343 isn't going to take him seriously, and neither will I.
