Subject: Okay that's about the last straw

Seriously Bungie has got to be a group of some of the absolute dumbest smart people I can imagine. I'm so -blam!- done with this game, they -blam!- raped themselves in the face with Reach.

I've played since Halo 2 on xbl and played it a -blam!- ton. I know how to play Halo and I know what made Halo great and I know what made it frustrating.

My brother and I have now been banned five consecutive games in a row when all we want to -blam!- do is play Halo. For the past hour almost, we've gotten in about half a game before being booted by some mother -blam!- who we accidentally (ACCIDENTALLY) ran over in the hog or something; either that or we've betrayed ONLY people who had already betrayed us and not given us the option to boot.

So here's the -blam!- hole in logic:

Why the -blam!- can people betray me on a semi-regular basis and get away with it while the FIRST betrayal that my brother or I commit gets us an automatic boot?

I've played plenty long enough and I've been 'quit banned' (BTW why the -blam!- does Bungie not see a difference between quitting and being removed from the game by their -blam!- boot-system???) plenty enough to see a pretty consistent pattern.

If I'm on probation, I get booted on my first betrayal, accidental or not, almost EVERY TIME. Also if I'm on probation, people are able to betray me without giving me the option to boot. So basically, if you are on probation, your chances of getting banned are that much higher because something about how the game works causes it to be that way.

This wasn't a good read. Nobody gives a -blam!- about my -blam!-ing about this stupid -blam!- game. I know that. So flamers, put down your flame throwers for a second. You can let this thread sink off the front page as quick as it arrived on there. This was for me, and my hope that at least somebody will either agree or somebody from bungie will realize that they have another hardcore fan that will never buy another one of their games again.

It's a -blam!- video game, Bungie. It's after midnight on a saturday night and I wanna play video games. Why the -blam!- do you have such a problem with that?

Also, this is only ONE of the EXTENSIVE list of problems I have with this game. This is just one that I have right now.

God damn it...

Do not play halo much anymore. Barely ever come on here.

Reach is horrible, we all know this. On another note, I have not gotten a betrayal in like the last 100 games, you obviously are doing something wrong if you get a betrayal.

The fact you get this angry shows me your one of the people I would have fun booting you while you cant boot me lol.

Ohhhhh so you're part of the scum that fills the community nowadays huh? Awesome.

it's big team battle and I'm playing with my brother. every game we run the warthog. there's gonna be accidental betrayals with that.

i also will betray anybody who betrays me for a weapon or vehicle. i stand by that. but if somebody betrays me and i can't boot them, it shouldn't boot me just for retaliating. it shouldn't.

First off, you have to realize in BTB picking up a power weapon is a risky move and that some idiot might betray you, so I just plain avoid them. Second, you must suck at driving a hog if you betray people that often.

Picking up power weapons is risky in Reach because Bungie doesn't protect those who do. Plain and simple. The fact that players can betray for power weapons and get away with it is a flaw in game design, not play style.

If there was no friendly fire, which is only one solution to the problem, then i wouldn't have to worry about picking up a weapon that could be the difference between winning and losing.

Second, you don't know anything about my driving, so you can act like you do if you really wanna be difficult, but the fact is you don't have a clue.

My point is, the boot system is -blam!- up the ass...you can make it sound like i caused my own problem all you want but there's a reason the boot system has been criticized since this game came out...

To be fair to the OP, I don't believe 343i has tinkered with the betrayal/boot system.

  • 11.26.2011 10:33 PM PDT

343 has impressed me thus far as far as level design...we'll see what they can do with the next halo. I got no beef with 343, but Bungie can go -blam!- a goat.

  • 11.26.2011 10:35 PM PDT

The betrayal/boot system is one of the most insignificant flaws in Reach.

Don't want to play with randoms? Find some friends to play with that have common sense.

  • 11.26.2011 10:36 PM PDT

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

From what I notice, the amount of betrayals it takes to boot someone is based off of how habitually they betray, but I could be very wrong.

Either way, it DOES take habitual quitting/removal on a massive scale to get banned. It takes a LOT of betrayals to simply be Bungie's fault...

PROTIP: Every quit you do, count as a betrayal in the Boot System, if you are on probation, thtat means, 1 betrayal, accidental or not, give boot option.

See, what you're doing is telling me a way to fix a problem that Bungie should have fixed (and in my opinion had done reasonably well with in the past halos).

I already stated that there are many other flaws in this game. It sounds like you're just telling me to quit my -blam!-ing. If that's all you wanted to say, I already addressed that in my OP...

On a related note, ******'s mom has really nice boobs, and it doesn't take much booze or encouragement to get her to let the puppies out of the pen...if you know what I mean...

it takes a 'massive' scale of 'habitual quitting/removal' to get banned?? have you ever been banned?? because what you just said is completely blown out of proportion and sort of retarded.

answer me this: what other even reasonably successful shooter includes friendly fire in competitive gameplay?

I can't name a single one outside of Halo. Now, since we have now seen Halo go from the number one shooter to, well, not the number one (as far as popularity), can we not say that mayyyybee there is something wrong with how they do things??

Friendly fire should not be in any shooter. It only causes frustration and conflict to be hurt by someone on your own team, regardless of whether or not it's intentional.

It's bungie's fault I'm having this problem. Say what you want, but you're not saying it based on logic, you're saying it because you like the taste of bungie -blam!-.

PROTIP2: Bungie is no longer managing the Halo Universe. While our Halo-related forums and stats remain available, be advised that "official" answers and support about the Halo Universe (past, present, or future) are not.

If you want to complain, go to 343i website
