We should know better, because we are better.

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Easilly one of the best Halo books, especially if you love Forerunners.

haha

Ya, it's pretty good. If money is an issue, rent it or buy it used, and then you can sell it after you read it.

Is it better than Ghosts of Onyx? That book was one series of action scenes after another. It didn't really have much of a story.

For Carnage Apply Within - We played Marathon before Marathon was cool!

Keep it authentic...

NO! I bought it and I can't stand reading it. It's terrible.

Be nice to noobs..Remember even MLG players were noobs at one point.

Yeah, how far did you go? The beginning is a little slow but after the second chapter it really takes off, well at least for me it did. Easily the best Halo novel in my opinion.

If anyone has read it can you tell me if it's any good or worth buying?

It has some slow moments, but is altogether a great book, especially for those who love learning all they can about Halo and all related things. I personally love understanding many things in the Halo: CEA terminals that make no sense to my friends who have yet to read the book.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Eh, get it second hand to read it then do what you will with it. It's got game-changing (figuratively) information regarding the canon, so there's important info in there. Although I suppose you could just read about it all online. Yeah, do that I guess.

Dude, I did just that and noticed Glasslands. HOLY CRAP! I think I'll just read this before reading about the forerunners. This one explains what happens post-war. On topic, yes I would buy it.

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

I've read some pretty negative reviews for Glasslands. Apparently the Author botched a good chunk of the story.

I've found a lot of the hate as being baseless; read it for yourself and come to your own conclusion.
On TopicCryptum was great. It starts off pretty slow, and there isn't as much action as you'd come to expect from a typical Nylund Halo novel, but it's something all to it's own, and it's pretty damn good.

Also, I couldn't help but read the narration in Ethan Hawke's narrative voice from Gattaca.

Similar to Primo, I've yet to see a suficiently reasonable explanation as to why the story sucks. Most of the complaints stem from what is actually character devolopment, an apparently foreign concept to a lot of the people on this site.

There is a major difference from character development and rebuilding characters from the ground up. Anton already blocked you on that debate so no need to drag it around everywhere.

Anton is wrong, you're wrong, etc.

Stop blaming the author just because you have the reading comprehension of a five year-old, grey. All the pieces were there, you were just too thick to put them together on the first go.

  • 11.28.2011 6:57 AM PDT

well, I havent read any of it, but from what I have heard about it, it completely destroys the former image of the forerunners that we had before the books came out, when we only had the games to base them on.

Which part He wrong about? because i saw the Article on Karen's site stating that she rebuilds people from the ground up on how she thinks they should act.

Signatures are for squares.

Cryptum is probably my favorite Halo novel. It starts off really slow, but once chapter 3 hits you'll get sucked right in and not want to put the novel down.

There is only one major "action" scene in the entire novel, but it's fine because the book is just so interesting. It completely changes your perception of things and twists the Forerunners into a species you wouldn't of expected them to be. But it's by no means a "bad" transformation.

If Forerunners interest you, this book is for you.
