Last I checked, the only thing it could form was the generic biomass lining the walls. Infection forms come from carrier forms, who come from damaged combat forms. Pure forms come from a lump of high calcium bodies (IIRC). Graveminds and proto-graveminds are formed from bodies being shoved together. Infact, the only thing we've been proven they can form(on their own) is spores, generic biomass similar to the zerg creep, and infection forms.

There is one thing that is not stated i need to know to judge if the space marine would survive...do they have gas masks ?
MC survived the flood only thanks to his suits air refreshment system...or else he would get easly turned into flood.
If not then the flood easly pwnwtf the SM...Infecting one and then using his power against his kind.
Space marines have augmented lungs, and helms. Their skin is as tough as diamonds IIRC, meaning their skin is basically armor and I don't think the infection form could pierce it.

You all forget that the warhammer factions would know nothing about the flood, placing them in the exact same position as the forerunners when they first met them.
The forerunners could have wiped out the flood without breaking a sweat if they knew how to defeat it in the early encounters, but they didn't know anything about the parasite and the flood was able to grow in strength, using the forerunners own weapons against them.
Only, the warhammer races are fond of bringing forth large armies against whatever foe it against them.
Again, the Forerunners would have wiped out the flood if they treated it as a threat from the start, which they did not. 40k, Star wars, they wouldn't make that mistake. Hell, the Elites didn't and they SAVED a planet that got infected, and the forerunners couldn't even do that. Or wouldn't.
