Plus the imperium doesn't care about saving a single planet they would destroy a planet without a second thought.

Do they destroy a planet whenever it is conquered by an opposing force or try to take it back first?
If it was the flood they would destroy it.

Going back to the point I was making earlier, they don't know what the flood is. If they did the flood would be screwed from the beginning. Thats why humanity and the covenant defeated them, they knew from information the forerunners had left behind.

The imperium doesn't fool around

>They see what the flood is doing through transmissions
>They realize its a grave threat
>They destroy the planet.

They are extremely Xenophobic meaning they will annihilate anything alien

Bearing in mind the flood is already at full power in this scenario, this is actually kind of irrelevant. They are as powerful as the most powerful race they have assimilated. So being at full power in the warhammer universe would make them unstoppable.

  • 12.14.2011 10:57 AM PDT

Oh, so flood is at full strength meaning they have consumed all the forerunners, UNSC, and Covenant?

The fact remains, the forerunners, IN ALL THEIR POWER, couldn't contain the first flood appearance on a SINGLE PLANET? Yet elites with 12 or so ships can?

IIRC, it was described that the Forerunners weren't doing everything they could to contain or stop the flood for the first... what was it, 300 years or so? Only after they finally went "Oh -blam!-, we gotta pull all the stops out!"

Honestly, If the forerunners really went full force against the flood from the very start, they wouldn't have lost.

Edit: The Imperium would go full force against the flood in the first damn place. THEY HATE ALL ALIENS. Flood = alien. Flood = hated enemy of humanity.

Nope if all of the races fought the flood with everything they had they wouldn't stand a chance.

Imperium: Oh look aliens. KILL THEM ALL!!!!!

Yes, they would have won if they went all out from the start. But that is irrelevant in this scenario.

The flood, once established, were unstoppable even when the forerunners sent infected solar systems into supernova. Since they are at full power in this scenario, they have already assimilated a significant level of biomass to reach this stage. God help the imperium if the flood have access to warp gates and the gravemind learns to harness its psychic power.

Though, you are ignoring a detail.

You are going flood (which have consumed all life in halo verse, UNSC, Covenant, Forerunner)

against Imperium of man(space marines, sisters of battle, Imperial guard, etc), Eldar, Dark Eldar, Necrons, Orks, Tau, Chaos.

Plus the chaos gods, and C'tan. Or are those included with the Necrons and Chaos?

I love how he is ignoring that the tyranids are far more powerful and dangerous than the flood.

Tyranid scout force= flood at "full power"

No, i am going flood on warhammer strength. At full strength the flood is as powerful as its strongest adversary at least, not to mention every dead soldier adds another to the ranks of the flood.

Apparently they think the flood can infect Tyranids.

Only, Orks can't really be infected and when they die, they spawn more.

Likewise, chaos demons cannot be infected, nor can Necrons.

You are going "Flood on full strength" and not saying WHAT THAT IS.

If we have flood enter warhammer full strength, that means consumed forerunners, unsc, covenant. No Flood snuck in and consumed enough to become full strength before anybody notices bull-blam!-.

4 hive fleets could probably destroy the flood let alone ALL of the tyranids. Plus the Necrons at full strength.

They don't stand a chance.

I asked several pages ago if the space marines could even get infected due to the augmentations they have.

They can't with their Diamond hard skin and enhanced immune system.

And the space marines at full strength that means pre-heresy numbers.

Explain this to me please. From what I have read about the tyranids, they are basically very similar to the flood without the ability to use the weapons of the races they conquer or reproduce without their central intelligence. Also the flood uses a 'supercell' to infect its hosts, so it can mutate a potential host while it is still alive rather than having to kill it first.

Also please explain why the flood can't infect the tyranids. I CBA to go back through the whole thread.

There is nothing i should explain if you actually read anything about the Nids. They are clearly more powerful than the flood and the only reason you would think otherwise is because of a preconception you had.

I just read the entire wiki article on them and I still fail to see how they are more powerful than the flood. Their planetary invasion tactics would be completely useless against the flood, who would simply infect and consume the tyranids as soon as they mad landfall.

  • 12.14.2011 11:40 AM PDT

Well, there is the fact the Tyranids have devoured countless Galaxies, break down all organic life on a planet to add to their fleet, and are very very good with poisons and toxins.

Seeing as I think not even a full fleet has been faced yet in 40k? and those small ones terrified EVERYBODY.

I mean it took the collective efforts of an entire Spacemarine chapter just to beat a small group of nids.

If you wish me to read from another source then please give me the link. All I can see from a tyranid invasion is them landing, breathing in flood spores and becoming infected before they can make a signifigant impact on the flood.

Also I am not using the halo wiki, I am using knowledge I have gathered from the halo books and games.

  • 12.14.2011 11:45 AM PDT

Use this if anything.

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Main_Page#.Tuj8iNX3JCM

Also, Unlike the flood, Tyranids change the planets ecosystem. They also expand rapidly.

Edit: Flood spores are one of the slowest ways to infect a being. So fail on your end. Also likely they'd simply filter/consume said spores.
