There's a lot of things to consider... Basically, the UNSC is absolutely screwed, no matter what race they're up against, the only real contest they could give is with Spartans, and there's not enough of those to make a real difference. Countering my previous statement, they could give the Imperial Guard a lot of grief.

The Covenant would do well I think, unfortunately we have no real indication as to how powerful they really are, in the games, even in Legendary they are extremely nerfed compared to what they should be. Add to that their sheer numbers, they would be taken down, but not before tearing through the other races.

Another big factor is the Lekgolo. We have only ever seen Hunters or Scarabs. It is a likely assumption that they could form entities that make hunters look like bunny rabbits, however, I won't factor them in, as there really is no way to judge just how dangerous they would be. Though I will say this, I think that they could easily create an entity that could cleave even a Dreadnought in half. Perhaps even rise to a level near that of the Soul Grinder.

Flood... Well, what's to be said? They would obliterate any race, I don't give a crap how good the races are. As for the Tyranid... Well, as previously sated in this topic, there would be a stalemate of a sort... However, as long as the flood still kill any Tyranid, they will continue accumulating biomass. It is likely they would reach galactic stage and, if the Gravemind knew without a doubt that the Flood could not wipe out the Tyranid, they would spread to other galaxies.

And one final note, if the flood had previously wiped out other 40k races, they would have all their technologies. Imagine infected Tau... You would have a force not unlike the Tau, but possessing extremely powerful close-quarter attacks. In the end, there is a lot of "if's" but the Flood will not die, that is for sure.

So, in the end you finish with a stalemate, Tyranid, and Flood, fighting each-other for the rest of eternity. What a fate.

Haha. This is post gave me some good laughs. I'm sorry, but mass guardsmen will obliterate even Spartans. It is said that the even a single standard-issue lasgun can punch through Space Marine ceramite armor if it was hit in a weak spot, and ceramite is like one of the toughest materials available to the Imperium. Imagine what a massed barrage of lasgun shots can do the Mjolnir armor. Absolutely no chance.

You are not factoring in the Necrons or daemons against the Flood, and they will absolutely obliterate the Flood, considering that neither races can actually be infected by the Flood. One is made of metal, and the other isn't actually a native of the material realm. The Necrons have organic matter-stripping technology, and the daemons are simply just daemons. There is no competition that the Flood can pose.

If memory is correct, Mjolnir suits comprise of a material, not unlike ceramite, and Titanium hardened at an atomic level, just wanted you to know that the UNSC were getting there, eventually... As for massed guardsmen, a smart spartan wouldn't get into that situation, and I don't think any spartans are dumb by any means. If I thought that Mjolnir armor could survive a single shot of any kind of weapon from 40k I'd be kidding myself, but I don't doubt that the spartans could dodge just about any kind of weapon in their arsenal. It'd be like trying to swat a supersonic fly, pardon the strange metaphor, spartans were made for speed, the strength is just a cool add-on. On the other hand... They would still obliterate the phrase, "spartans never die" their ability to fight back depends on them being able to use enemy weapons, and as they can flip 66 ton tanks, I think that's definitely credible.

Hey, I'm just defending the awesomeness of the spartans ^_^

As for the Necrons, as I said, it is another "if" situation, if they have already assimilated another race, they could definitely win, the flood after all, are more powerful based on the life they destroy. Given no other life to infect, you would end up simply with Necron occupied planets who's atmospheres are filled with flood spores. The Necrons might even like that, it would stop any biological races interfering. In this outcome, the flood would simply "exist".

As for the Chaos Daemons, I did not factor them in because of their instability in the material realm, because of the enormous scale the flood exist in, the daemons could not possibly do enough damage before being cast back into the chaos. If they did, however, overcome this, then they could plausibly defeat the Flood, but for the first time, this is an "if" favoring the flood.

I know my stuff, I didn't write this without thinking about it, however, critique is appreciated, so thanks :P And glad you got a laugh out of it. And hey, you didn't stamp out my ideas for the Covenant, that's good.

One last thing on the Necrons, they are machines, and as a Gravemind has been known to corrupt even forerunner, sentient AI, that would give them a good chance, but again... "if".

edit: I don't kid myself... I voted for 40k

Well, for a start, if by setting you mean how we think it would play out, I'd say for a start that The Sisters of Battle would declare the flood a demonic affront to their beliefs. However, they would fall, being human and all.

Orcs... Well, they don't stand much of a chance, mostly unarmored as they are. Their numbers would keep them from dying for a very long time. But not indefinitely. Oh dear.... Imagine an infested Sqigoth O_o

No, I mean setting as in the 41st millennium and the Orion Arm. I'm saying is that we can also compare the universes in a manner that is not solely about how efficiently one can smash the others face in. Which universe has the better setting in your opinion? Which one produces better EU books? Which universe sticks to it's themes more? There is more than war here.

Considering the fact that the Necrons have a hollow planet that contains a device that can destroy the entire galaxy, yeah, 40k wins.

but forerunner security forces can ravage planets, warhammer guys can't do that.

Fun fact: they totally can. An Ork WAAAAAAGH found out, much to their surprise, that you shouldn't tinker with Necron tech. They opened up a couple Doomsday cannons and the resulting explosion destroyed the entire planet.

Because infantry wrecking planets = ship based weaponry wrecking planets.

Ahum, wasn't it proven that Forerunner infantry did not wreck planets? And it was items launched from ships?

edit: That is, if you are talking about the divots ripping massive chunks of crust up, flipping them over and slamming them down. I'd like to see any infantry do that and live.

Well that's nearly impossible to judge... They both have extremely complex, well thought-out universes. One aspect other than war however, is that both Covenant and UNSC are remarkable at reverse-engineering tech. Namely Forerunner tech. When compared to the 40k universe, where races are stuck with the same level of technology, for decades on end, the Halo universe develops much, much faster, this can be attributed to the forerunners of course. Howeve this does make it interesting to follow the different developments and leaps in technology that they make. Unfortunately 40k is so far ahead and ridiculously over the top that it's hard to follow, it's harder to relate to because the armies are so alienated.

On another note, each of the different 40k armies have in-depth stories, which makes it that much better to explore the history of your favorite armies.

I don't know. Those Ciaphas Cain novels are awesome. I will take a bold step and risk the flaming with this claim: Caiphas Cain > Han Solo

Storm of Iron is amazing. Why? I honestly have no clue. I guess I feel like it captures the idea of Chaos as a super-faction the best.

The Covenant are still able to glass massive areas of land. There are no Warhammer weapons that can act like glassing weapons.
Melta guns/cannons.

Sorry to tell you, but comparing melta to a glassing beam compared is like matches and flamethrowers. A glassing beam can literally melt an acre of land in 15 seconds. Granted, the Covenant don't have anything like an exterminatus.

These often had them...

And I believe there are certain weapons which do largely the same thing as glassing weapons. In 'Propsero Burns' it describes a 'kill-shot' leaving a gouge in a planet's surface with much of it glistening, though I might be wrong as it was a while since I read it.

Well, when you put it like that...
But I can't imagine there being a lot of those particular Titans. What makes the glassing beam so scary is that there is well.... a LOT of ships that have them... a LOT means the Covenant have them in the thousands.

In what way ?
In the wiki it said that (big robot {i call it like that bcus its hard to remember its name}) Big robot is 55 meters high...The scarab is 48 meters length ....I think the length makes up for the height ....Also its 20 meters high.

They are 400ft tall and have weapons that can destroy a scarab in a single shot.

I don't even see why you would even bring the scarab up.
IF the UNSC doesn't even have a large platform and has no trouble taking scarabs out why would you think something in the overpowered vs would be a "match"?

Insane logic failure.

No and majority of the people in this thread do not. They make threads like this but get offended when halo doesn't win.
