Citizens of Me! The cruelty of the old Pharaoh is a thing of the past. Let a whole new wave of cruelty wash over this lazy land.

Hear the word of Pharaoh. Build unto me a statue of ridiculous proportion. One billion cubits in height......that I might be remembered for all eternity!

And be quick about it!

Why can't we upload images to use for our avatars on Bungie.net? Many forums have the option, why doesn't Bungie.net? (Other then through the use of coup)

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Because then I may have to look at ugly genitals.

^^^of course that too.

IDK, get coup is you want that, which it seems you already have.

I don't think they volunteered to look at those images. They could use Google for the same result.

Chapter

Narwhallace Smithington: Gone, but not forgotten. Never approve of anything lil guy. <3
Furious George: The new -blam!-

In addition to having inappropriate avatars, having avatars located on a 3rd party site would increase page load times. Plus, as anyone who's used Coup knows, the majority of you have terrible taste in avatars, anyway.

  • 11.27.2011 5:22 PM PDT

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Yes. I don't know what your coup avatar is, but like everyone else, it's probably rubbish.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

Active 9/1/11, Heroic 12/25/12

A few reasons I can think of:
1. Someone would have to check every member's avatar submission.
2. The site has a clean look to it and it would be ruined with unappealing and contrasting colored avatars.
3. Almost all of the regular member's avatars are related to Bungie's games or Bungie.net itself and I think the web team likes it that way.

Also lets not make this a thread full of coup arguments, we have plenty of those in The Flood.

I think this could be another possible privilege.

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

Many reasons. It would increase load times, take up a lot of unnecessary space, make the forums look uglier, etc.

Stick to coup if you really care that much. I don't want to be bombarded by hideous avatars every time that i check the forums.

That would be great. How about we also have a maximum file size so we don't overload Bungie.net.

Do you ever not quote an employee or moderator?

OP: I believe Achronos has stated before that it will never happen, much like emoticons. However, if there is a way to screen them, then sure. We'll see when these massive changes come our way.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

So you want the mods to look through thousands of possible avatars, as people upload and change their avatars what will probably be dozens of times?

You just quoted a moderator through my quote too just now.

I like a more personalized Bungie.net.

Unlikely, but depends on where they were hosted.

take up a lot of unnecessary space
How so? If all avatars are resized to 90px by 90px it wouldn't.

I really don't like it when people use third-party "add-ons" as an answer for something that could be provided by the site itself.

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

Pretty much what true underdog said. As well, it wouldn't go with the site's (carefully planned) color scheme

It doesn't make the forum look uglier, it makes members recognizable and I quite like to see the variety in avatars that coup offers, as opposed to the limited, boring selection of default avatars that the site offers.

And with upload avatars every member would be recognizable instead of just coup users. And I don't think the inappropriate avatars would be to much of a problem, I have only ever seen one or two bad ones on coup over the course of 6 months.

Or there could be a reactive response whereby users could upload an avatar, then, if others find it offensive, report it.
