Do you WANT to look at a bunch of pr0n? Besides, I have coup, so I don't really care.
Alright, I guess I will get slightly more involved in this discussion that I had anticipated.
I think that coup handles the -blam!- quite well as I rarely saw any whilst running coup, and I think that if Bungie were to allow users to upload custom avatars that it could be regulated fairly well in terms of offensive content such as -blam!-. However, I feel that problems may arise if users start using images that are not theirs to user (copyright and all that jazz), and then someone might have the audacity to go to Bungie and say "Hey you guys, I don't like this." and then we'd all be given the screw and be back to square one.
So, while I would like the ability to upload my own avatar, I think it would inevitably end to more trouble than it's worth.
This can be solved with this idea.
The Mods give you the right to do it.
You give a picture you want to upload and then they can decide if they agree or not.
If they agree you get your profile pic. If not you have to give a new one.
Its slow and will be easy to do as it will take time for people to do it. And so it would not be a huge traffic of these requests.
Very good point, and I can't believe I forgot about that as I've been on a forum that used just such a system. I wonder if they would consider implementing this.
