Subject: So, I founded a group and left, to later on find that...

Don't -blam!- with Kerser!

When I get your go. I will leave.

So I left, and it didn't assign admin to anyone, and didn't create a new account. We were both wrong.

Well at least we learned that if only 1 person is Admin and they leave the group will never have an Admin again.

We will check daily then. Or maybe the join times between us were to short to establish the longest joined member.

I should have gotten it but if that was the case but I have no Admin tools.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

@UNSC 2009 This is my theory. You left the group in 2010. That profile was automatically created using the same name as the group.
How would that make sense? Who's in control if it's an automatically created profile? Someone probably gained control, decided to create that account, and passed admin privileges to it.

If I remember right, it takes like a month for a new admin to be selected. So your experiment might take a while.

Edit: I was mistaken.

Fair enough... We will see though.

So, here's my story:
I make a group, Vault 101, and forget about it, AND leave (as if I was the only one)... Later on, about 1 1/2 year later, I check it out, it has 100 members, and I check the members list, I NEVER modified the roles of the group, yet there"s this profile, which conveniently has the name of "Vault 101" and the role of "TERMINAL". How's all this possible? And why? (And is there any way to recover the group as founder?)

EDIT: I forgot to say, the group was always "Membership Requires Approval" since it was founded. And I NEVER gave group control to ANYONE.
If you are the last member to leave a group, it is automatically deleted. Since the group wasn't deleted, there must have been at least one member in the group when you left. If all of the members assigned to the "Administrator" security role leave the group, the user who has been a group member the longest is promoted to the "Administrator security role.

Whoever has the admin status in a group then leaves the group, it will give the status to a random member of that group. I know this because it's happened to me before.
Wait, do you mean at complete random or a random person from the higher roles?

I believe it gives admin to the oldest member of the group (not by the age of their bungie.net account, but how long they have been a member of the group).

  • 11.28.2011 5:42 AM PDT

It gives administration to the second oldest member I believe.

The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

As you waste your breath complaining about life, Someone out there is breathing their last. Appreciate what you have.

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.

Seven is the Administrator of the test group now so what we already knew has been confirmed.

Yeah, I joined a group several years ago, forgot about it and check recently and I had been promoted "Administrator".

It just passed on to me because no one else was active on B.Net.

This sounds like an elaborate social engineering plan. Tell everyone you founded the group, the group gives you admin control, you take over the group. I'd quit trying and go make your own new group.

However, if you are being honest, I would still quit trying and go make your own new group.

First of all, this group is for all intensive purposes, inactive. Why would he want it?

Second, it shows for me that he is in fact the group founder.

If you left your group as the only member, then it deleted. If you left the group with maybe only one other member, then after a little while it auto deletes because after a certain amount of time, it will auto-delete if unless there is at least three other members.

It is either that, or when you left, another member gained control of the administrator role?

  • 11.28.2011 3:10 PM PDT

Yup. :)

Happened in a group I was in. It takes a bit though; I think 10 days or something.

It takes a couple days. I once accidentally left a group, and I asked my second-in-command to let me back in as soon as possible, which was in a few days.

  • 11.28.2011 3:12 PM PDT

It happened to me in a group once too, but the dude didn't get Admin status for about a week. -__-
