We are all going to get banned aren't we?

Some dismiss the theory of it being human cause of 343 not being able to identify the symbols. However, 343 didn't say that he didn't understand the symbols, he said that he had a "limited data set". So it could just as well be human symbols. I don't know, have we seen any before?

If it is, how -the hell- did it end up there? I assume it's sometime between the Forerunner-Flood war and the begining of the Covenant(?).

Also, I always try to emphasize how important it is to try and see things from a storytelling perspective. Everything that is mentioned should be taken into concideration. The bare fact that 343 says something about blocking the signal, makes it important, and just cause he mentions it, it's fairly likely that there in fact are other ships. Why else mention that in the monolouge? It's not that there aren't other logic things to comment on; ramndom realistic things surrounding the consequence of having an unidentified ship crash of the installation...

Anyway, my guess is that we'll have to wait until Primodium -since the ship looks like the one on its cover- for some light to be shed on all of this; don't think we're meant to figure out anything from what we have. It's all part of a grand plan to keep Halo mysterious and exiting..

"Limited data" meaning he is using the icons he found on the ship and trying to translate them based. The ships on the cover of Primodium are Forerunner and that concept art was for halo 4.

Yeah, having UNSC and Covenant in Halo 4 is also bad story telling too.

The Covenant would be, but the UNSC is sort of necessary in order for the game to have enough relevance to the past trilogy.

Besides, UNSC Infinity is in Halo 4 already, so don't blame me for your Halo 4 hissy-fit.

Give me a confirmed source saying that the infinity is in halo 4, if not than it is speculation. As i have told you before just because we saw concept art doesn't mean a thing not to mention the infinity isn't even finished yet. Something you would know if you read Glasslands.

opinion, but that is the main reason they are read.

So what are you harping on about at that person, then?

Because Ruby claims to know exactly what Halo 4 and beyond needs to be consistent with halo overall,

Oh, sorry, I guess you don't understand the meaning of the words "logical assumption" and "game development".

and what is good for canon.

Not really. I stay out of that when I feel I don't have enough background on the Halo lore, something which you seem to be getting confused with.

Yet has never touched the books and has been okay with certain ones/bits being tossed out the window.

PLEASE explain to me how a 100% background of the novels is mandatory for what we're talking about right now.

Because that information is completely useless when outside implications and information is given to us.

HOW is it NOT logical to assume that some random spacecraft we've never seen before is going to appear in the next game, which the Terminals themselves are MEANT to connect to?

WHY do I NEED extensive background information on the novels to say this?

Stop using that bogus excuse, because it's getting old.

Besides, you never see me engaging in intricate conversation about the Timeless One or whatever, so what is your problem? I obviously stay out of conversations which I have no valid information to give.

Why do you think I'm in this thread? Because I know that what I'm saying makes sense. However, you keep lashing out at me with the completely irrelevant fact that I don't read the novels; something that has NOTHING TO DO with what I'm explaining.

How is spouting about the dire need of the covenant in every single halo game needed for the series to succeed a "Logical assumption"? I find it funny how you mention Game Development despite supporting the staling of the series by not branching out from the covenant.

And Cmdr is right; You have always claimed that the Covenant is good for the series and removing them would causes a massive fallout in the fanbase. I can even get quotes of you saying that.

Because there are pages worth of things just as important never being explained or touched upon again, Like the SoF. And as I said before the terminals are more about 343 than Halo 4. The only link i have seen to halo 4 is Abject Testament And the implication of more flood and humanity finding the cure. I gave in my last post several things that clearly aren't about halo 4 such as the PoA,Halo, and Keyes terminals.

It is the fact you brought up Ancient humanity yet have never read cryptum that is where you needed to read the books comes into play. What your saying makes no sense given that race can reach Tier 2-1 within 40,000 years. And the Fact it isn't Ancient Man.

"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

Statement: UNSC and Elites/Covenant will not be in Halo 4 at all, maybe not even the whole Trilogy.

Core assumption: Halo 4 takes place in the same location, and that cause and effect are limited to just that single area.

Reasoning: Baseless.

We are not going to see how Humanity reacts to its inheritance and destiny if things focus on MC so myopically. Nor will MC's actions really have that much of an impact without seeing this sort of stuff. It would basically just be a guy fighting some enemies with no ambition or goal at the end of it besides him surviving. Halo CE introduced us to the game, but I honestly lacked any sort of emotional attachment to anything in that game and failed to see any relevance to anything with the exception that Halo must not be fired and the Flood must not escape. That is it. Halo 2 changed that by seeing Earth under attack and Humanity on its last legs. Now the reason for stopping Halo and the Flood has some proper meaning to it, as does fighting the Covenant. Halo 3 show us that it is not just survival we are fighting for, but a contested birthright; our destiny. Humanity's destiny, not the destiny of a few genetic elite, or one man.

"Die? Don't you know SPARTANS NEVER DIE!!"

I would like to theorize based on following perspectives:

1.) Chronological order in HALO universe

2.) GS343's reaction to the ship

3.) The fact that the ship, though crash-landed, made its way to Installation 04 in one piece.

4.) GS343 has lost its connection to the Domain

Let us examine the events took place before this mysterious crash amongst different races:

a.) Forerunner race:
At this point of time, there should not be any survivor of Forerunner race in the known galaxies given the fact that when Didact pulled the trigger of the remaining 7 HALO installations, all sentient lives in the blast zone should all be gone. The possibility of this ship piloted by Forerunner survivors came from Shield Worlds is highly unlikely since GS343 could not identify this ship's design or origin.

b.) Human race:
We know after Human-Forerunner War, most of the human race were exterminated and sent back to Earth. At this point of time, since human on Earth have been devolved by the Librarian & Forerunner Council, I do not think this ship came from Earth. However, the whereabouts of those human who were given the Gene Therapy to fight off Flood few thousands years ago were not clearly stated in the novel, (please correct me if I am mistaken in this part) so I believe there might be some chance for this ship to be human from elsewhere.

c.) San 'Shyuum race:
At this point, San 'Shyuum could have developed some level of interstellar traveling technology. GS343, given it's not linked with the Domain anymore, might have limited data on ancient San 'Shyuum culture. Therefore, I believe it might be possible for this ship being originated from San 'Shyuum world.

d.) Sangheili race:
Arguments would be the same as above. At this point, Sangheili could have developed interstellar traveling technology.

e.) Flood:
Highly unlikely. Since GS343 & Installation 04 have self-defense system; they would never allow any ships infested with Flood contaminating the HALO.

e.) Precursor:
Highly unlikely. Since The Timeless One was the only one confirmed survivor amongst Precursor race and the ship's design does not match what Didact observed regarding to Precursor architect.

So, by concluding above observations, I believe the ship should be of

1.) Ancient Human origin
2.) Ancient San 'Shyuuum origin
3.) Ancient Sangheili origin
4.) New race not yet disclosed.

I'm just going to throw my *small* hat into this crazy ring (may have already been said) by saying, the most interesting thing to me out of this whole terminal is spark mentions that the atmosphere aboard the ship is much like the rings, Oxygen rich.

Don't really know if that's even important, as I believe Humans, Forerunners and any other 'higher race' in the Halo lore breathe oxygen.

Just thought I'd throw it out there lol

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

When I saw the tail section of the ship, and looked at the general shape and thought, UNSC Infinity??? How'd you time travel?

Then I saw the full view of the ship and thought, Reaper?

But when it comes down to it I think it's just a random alien race we haven't seen yet.

But the question is, why didn't they come out?

A good theory would be that perhaps it was fighting another ship, and that all of the crew were either dead or injured. Perhaps, after reading a post above mine, that this ship was exploring Installation 05 and encountered the Flood. After trying to fight them off and loosing almost all of the crew, they attempted to leave the Ring by making a blind FTL jump, and by random chance crashed into 04. It's a crazy theory, but it makes sense if you think about it.

One of the dumbest things i have ever read.

  • 12.08.2011 1:19 PM PDT

It doesn't make sense...

They are at one ring, then blind jump straight into a crash on another?

  • 12.08.2011 1:25 PM PDT

The real question is how sad did terminal 9 make you? for me very sad :(

It was a cool terminal but to me felt like a wasted one. Had already read about keyes's struggle in Halo: The flood.

LOL or Moa

  • 01.05.2012 11:52 PM PDT

Perhaps it was trying to make some sort of contact with the ring? IDK, just a hypothesis :/

I don't think it's Ancient Humans though....that doesn't even sound that interesting :c
