Hey all,

Brand new bungie forum userer. First post, and I need some help. (Why else do you create an account?) I have never owned a Mac (microsoft employee guardian). And uh, I believe I've come of age to buy one, so i need help. I don't want anything new, just something really old capable of playing Marathon/Minotaur. I've become fascinated with the storyline for Marathon and the history of Bungie, and would like to play the games. So, any suggestions on where to get an old Mac, or what I would need would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Donnie

You show much potential, young padawan! You could probably find an old Mac at a flea market, or someone who wants a new one and is throwing their old one out.

I'm interested in getting an old Mac too, but I just haven't looked yet.
If I were to try right now I'd try some online auction site or a local
computer shop if you have one. I think the smaller businesses are
more likely to have something like that around.

EDIT: Ack! How rude of me. Welcome to the forums.

Welcome!!

As with the posts above, you might also find your local schools might have a old mac handy. You'll want a more recent one to play weekend warrior, as it needs a 3d card (any iMac would do) - but some older machines have them too.

Note that there are threads on this forum on how to get marathon working on the PC as well...

Marathon and Marathon 2 are free source games and are easily downloaded... No such news about any of the Myth games or Oni (yet) ;-)

Welcome, and good to see such a promising new member :P

Whats up fellow userer!

Welcome, you can find me in The Flood, cause the Underground is pretty barren as of late.

"I don't want anything new, just something really old capable of playing Marathon/Minotaur."

A PC can't play Minotaur, PiD, Gnop, ODS, etc.

Last time I checked, G3 iMacs were going on eBay for less than US$100! Going for a quick browse brings up one for only $61! They will play any Bungie game up to Myth perfectly (Oni will be sluggish even on lowest graphics quality, resolution etc - I know from experience). And anyway, Myth onwards can run on your PC.

So yeah, a G3 iMac is a solid machine for your needs. Search eBay for "iMac G3". They're the fruit-flavoured ones.
